Advantages: fun for a while (the drunkeness, NOT the hangover), hangover gives you a wake-up call on your should-be alcohol limitations
Disadvantages: vomiting, headache, no way to control how you feel
9am... lean forward... terrible grumbling in stomach. Roomates asleep. Pieces of paper and tissue with scribbles of illegible poetry... not even good! scrambling towards the bathroom to form an intimate relationship with the porcelain bowl. A HANGOVER I've unfortunately had the terrible experience of having one of the worst types of hangover... the ones where you had drank too much, ate too little, and went to sleep without vomiting with a huge stupid smile on your face, words flooding your head, and the room spinning... then you wake up and you feel like you've been run over by a truck. And you want to go back to be, but you can't because you're too nauseated. But you can't throw up because there's nothing to throw up. And you dry heave, and cry, beg, and promise never to get drunk again... and you can't even eat you feel so sick. I was one of the ones who swore i'd never get that drunk again, and I haven't... well, not THAT drunk again. My advice to you? It may seem lacking, but I definately go with water. Especially if you're drinking at home and don't have to deal with the "embarassment" of ordering water at your pub (not that every pub is like the pub in the movie "Coyote Ugly" that will publicly humiliate you for it)... but, no, if you're really looking for a sure-proof way, well, what I think is sure proof... have a bunch of bottles of water next to you, and drink it intermittently (you'll find yourself peeing a lot which is getting rid of the alcohol). Or if you're embarassed/in a pub like Coyote Ugly/don't feel like ruining the drunkeness I guess my only idea is that you should drink at least 3 big bottles of water before bedtime and deal with getting up to pee 10 times (hey, i'd do that any day if it meant steering clear of a nasty hangover). Also, try to EAT. Food will soak up the alcohol somewhat and partially help out. DO NOT drink when you
39;re on medication (it can adversely affect you)... and try to be in the least bit sensible about how much/what you drink if you really care. Alternatively: ABSTINENCE IS THE BEST POLICY I hope this helps, because I know it took me from 9am till 2pm to get over my hangover and I had no one to talk to to help me out, so i tried the internet. good luck if you're in that situation now, but hopefully you're reading this beforehand.

Hope yours is no more than a bad memory now... :-) |
