The title describes me actually. I like a drink, probably drinking slightly too much that is good for me, but what the hell, life is for living and I mainly drink red wine which thins the blood right?

Downside of course is that red wine gives you the hangover from hell. So I have developed a liitle strategy that saves me from getting too drunk and also eases the hangover pains :-

1. 1st drink, and ideally second drink of the night should be mineral water. Looks odd, but you can get them down your neck swiftly and move straight onto the booze. This has 2 benefits - its increases the water in your system, making it harder to dehydrate (dehydration being what actually causes a hangover) and it also stops you drinking too quickly your earlier alcoholic drinks if your body feels thirsty (if your body feels thirsty it needs water, not alcohol which has the opposite effect!)

2. Keep a glass of water with you all night and sip it between drinks. This slows your alcohol consumption and keeps your body hydrated.

3. One for the road? Make it a juice or another water. I often have a juice just to give my body some vitamin C to help it recover.

Downside to this? I go to the loo a lot more often as I tend to drink quite a lot of water as well as the wine (this isprobably a function of the fact that I drink red wine, which is quite dry anyway!) Also mineral water can be more expensive than beer in some bars which is a rip off - but I guess tap water is as good, is free and ALL PUBS IN THE UK ARE OBLIGED TO GIVE TAP WATER FREE OF CHARGE!!!! This is important to remember as many pubs do not like to do it but are breaking the law if they refuse.

The next morning, if I have a hang over I tend to use Iboprofen, which is a highly effective painkiller. I do not use paracetamol as this can be toxic with alcohol. I also drink lots of fruity juice the next morning as this rehydrates the body and gives more vitamin C.

Best cure f
or hangovers of course? Give up boozing!! (easier said than done!!)

Pint of water before bed and a bottle of IRN BRU in the morning always did the trick for me!
