Advantages: Fun!!??

Disadvantages: Your Head!!??

Ok Ok, so I'm only 15 years old but I can write on what I want can't I!? So why not HANGOVERS, oh the cursed word I hear you all say, yes HANGOVERS, that is the subject of this opinion.

I doubt many 15 yr olds have written obout a hangover before, I mean it isn't really the typical subject of an English essay now is it!? But I feel that I can be of some use in this opinion...

My story begins (Yes this is a story!) quite a while ago now, I was 14 at the time, it was a Friday and the last day of school before the weekend, I was really looking forward to the 2 day break, I had been under a lot of stress and I just wanted to let loose.

Friday night went quite quickly, I watched all the usuals on TV which included all 3 soaps, Brookie Eastenders and Corrie! I also watched FRIENDS and some other garbage, I ended up going to bed quite late in the end, the next day was great too, my Dad took me into town with him and treated me to a new pair of Astro turfs and some snazzy Nike football boots!

I was SO chuffed and then when I got home my best mate rang, she told me that her mum had offered for my mate and I to go to the cinema on her exspense! GREAT! This day was going so convieniantly cool, the cinema was a little late surprise for my mate whose birthday it was a couple of weeks back, but I suppose it was better to go late rather than never! We went to see American Pie and just to make things a little more fun, we took some drink. Thats where the problems started...

We mixed neat Vodka with Orange and coke and put them in 2 bottles in which we placed into plastic bags to take with us, we drank them in the cinema and belived we were ok, we may have been a little more giggly and louder than usual but we felt alright, it wasn't like we hadn't drunk before, but then came the end of the film and we stood up and walked, then it hit us both, we weren't drunk just tipsy and VERY giggly!

I was quite surpri
sed that we didn't get chucked out of the cinema but anyway, we both walked ourselves home from town the time being around 7pm, the day had gone great and now we just needed a little something to finish it all off, a mate of ours who shall remain un-named was having a BIG party at her house so we decided to make an appearance, BIG MISTAKE! Thats when the drink started to get heavy and we both drunk more and more...

My mate is without a doubt a little more sensible than me although the pair of us are complete plonkers when together!!! So as you can probably guess I carried on with the drink at the party and my mate stopped, I kept on drinking and drinking and smoking too, I was very unstable and at this point I cannot remember any more of what happened.

What I know now is that my mate walked me back to hers where I was sleeping that night, she tried to cover me up to her parents bless her, but it didn't work, they asked questions (I couldn't make it up the stairs without falling over) She gave me a bowl and when she came and found me in her room after covering me up to her parents, I had been sick, YUK! ~ Sorry!

Her parents then took me home and things were sorted out, but then the next day...

I woke up quite early considering, I felt fine but a little weird. When people go on about hangovers they mention headaches etc but I felt generally ok. ~ I think I'm lucky!

Here are some tips on what my parents suggested to me:

*1. Drink and eat something, I drank a mug of tea with a slice of buttered toast, the drink went down well (And I didn't chuck it all back up!!!) but the toast as my Dad warned me tasted like cardboard! I ate it none-the-less and it made me feel a little better. If you drink lots of water the next day this will help to rehydrate your body and get it back to normal. The food you eat should be high in sugar if you can help it, this all helps the liver function.

*2. Get som
e fresh air, don't stay inside all day couped up like an invalid, if you want to feel better, get out there and get some clean air inside you! This may seem a little strange but the day after my little incident (sunday) I was supposed to be playing football for my team, I didn't really want to in the morning because of my conditions but I wasn't 'puking' anymore and I seemed ok so my Dad suggested I went and played, so I did! O boy it felt good to be out there doing my bit, I felt so much better afterwards, maybe a little exsausted but much better! I'm not suggesting that you wake up and go for a 10mile jog or anything but if you aren't being sick and just feel a little light headed, get outside and breathe in that air!

*3. If however, the next day you are going to stay in unlike I did, you may feel like trying some pain killers to settle your rough stomach, this may sound simple but there are side affects. Taking such medication for a hangover can also un-settle your stomach and make you feel even worse, if you feel the neccessity to take pills than by all means do, you may no that they are a personal hangover cure for yourself but I managed without them so if possible you may want to give them a miss.

I hope my advice has helped and I hope my story has been followed and taken in, especially to people around my age, I wrote this opinion for other peoples sake, I don't want you all to think that drinking is bad and leads to terrible outcomes, it can be fun just beware of the risks, at least you all now know how to cure them!!!

Thanks and cheers for reading guys, much appreciated ~M~ :0)

Very amusing, it's nice that your parents were good about it, a lot of people are very unsympathetic about hangovers.
