Ah the dreaded hangover, very common at this time of year. If you want to keep suffering to a minimum without spoiling your night read on...

So here are my tips on avoiding the dreaded hangover~

*~ Eat something before drinking to line your stomach. I prefer having pizza or cheese toasties. Just don’t drink on an empty stomach (even a glass of milk beforehand will do).

*~ Try to drink a pint of water/fruit juice/ any non-alcoholic drink for each pint of alcohol you have. Tomato juice is my favourite as it contains high vitamin levels and so helps combat the bad toxins in alcoholic dinks.

*~ Don't mix your drinks, if you do this nothing will help you.

*~ Don't smoke. Apart from it being a yukky habit it makes you want to drink more.

*~ Drink a pint of water before going to bed. Keep some next to your bed in case you get thirsty in the night/morning. The biggest cause of hangover is the fact that your body is dehydrated. Your liver and kidneys will appreciate it (the water I mean!).

*~ Fizzy drinks may make your stomach more uncomfortable. I’d stick to clear spirits/drinks which are less likely to have lots of added colours.

*~ Avoid aspirin and paracetamol as they can be harmful taken with alcohol. Also aspirin can irritate your stomach. If you feel you need to take something for your hangover then Resolve is one my cousin swears by.

Tomato Juice and toast is my favourite post drinking breakfast. I’d stick to easy to digest things like cereal. Coffee is a big NO-NO as it will dehydrate you. What you should aim to do is keep a steady intake of fluids (non-alcoholic fluids!).

Keeping a bucket in your room in case of vomiting maybe needed for excessive drinkers or people who don’t take my advice!

Resist the temptation to sleep all day, this will make you feel worse. It’s bet
ter to have a shower (try the Original Source Tea tree oil and Mint shower gel) and wake up with a bang.

If you’ve really overdone it then keep meals small. It’s better to have 6 small meals a day then three big one’s. It will be far easier to digest.

Remember that most people drink to have a good time. What’s the point if you’re going to overdo it and feel worse once you’re done?

I hope everyone has an amazing new year!
