Advantages: feel good the next day

Disadvantages: needing the toilet

Why the sarcastic title? Well no matter how much I drink I don't get hangovers. The only way I feel I suffer is after a really heavy night out I feel knackered even though I coul have slept for 10 hours solid. So do I have a secret, or am I just an enviable person? I'm not sure, but I will tell you how I deal with drinking so much and repairing the damage.

I know everyone says you should alternate every alcoholic drink with a soft one, or ever better water. Who has the willpower to do this though? Whenever we are out all it is, is one alcoholic drink after another. I am a great fan of water though and everytime I drink at home, which it certainly more often than when I go out to pubs, I drink a few cups of water. As you will all know when you are drinking you seem to need to toilet every 5 minutes basically. Before bed I drink as much water as I can take. Fair enough I do need the toilet about twice through the night, but I still sip some water when I am up.

I always get the munchies after drinking so much and I don't skip a good scran. I either have a well-filled sandwich, or a microwave meal - lasagne, curry and so on. Anything that is easy to make and quick also. At this time I will wash it down with a soft drink.

Another thing I usually do is have some fresh fruit around. Over new year I bought 2 melons and cubed them so I could nibble at them. Before bed I had a good few bits, and when I was at the toilet I had a bit or two.

I always set my alarm for quite early in the morning. I get up, have 2 glasses of water, a vitamin C tablet, then settle back into my nice, cozy bed. If I don't have any plans I sleep until I wake up naturally and I feel great. I have a nice breakfast and go about my normal business feeling great.

So is that my secret? Perhaps it is. Reading back myself I would say it does play a large part in why I don't suffer in the mornings. After all I had 7 double Southern Comforts, 2 Ba
ileys, A vodka and Coke and 4 Bacardi Breezers and I felt fine the next day!

Good advice, but eek at the amount of alcohol you can drink. I used to drink an awful lot, but cut down and feel much better for it.

As for the comment below, I think that
Art does tend to over eulogise (sp) at times, but your writing is getting better and better with every opinion - so congrats on your Crown Leeane.

I will have to check out a few of your older ops to compare a litle more.

I used to be able to drink & drink when I was younger & not get a hangover - I'm not that lucky any more!!
