Advantages: smells gorgeous, lingering and changing smell, gorgeous packaging
Disadvantages: it runs out!
In the last term of uni, I had one of the most fantastic weeks ever when it comes to shopping. These were the things I acquired in that week - a ball dress, some shoes to go with the dress, a new denim skirt, some new shoes to go with the skirt, loads of tops, earrings, new Maybelline lip gloss (see the review!) and, Hugo Boss perfume ?Woman.? To top it all off, I got a cheque from the Inland Revenue for £207! So, yes, it was an amazing week. And I felt it only fair to try and write some amazing reviews spawned from it, and this is the turn of the perfume. Now, this is a seriously classy perfume, so I?m going to try my best to give it a seriously classy review. I was first bought Woman a couple of Christmases ago by my mum, along with the matching body lotion. I?ve still got the tiniest amount of the body lotion left but unfortunately the original bottle ran out after about a year. So, after the cheque from the kind people at the Inland Revenue had cleared, I set off to town determined to buy this perfume once again. Firstly, I looked in Superdrug, where the 50ml bottle cost £30.00. In Boots, it was around the same, but good old Bodycare came up trumps - the smaller bottle cost £17.99 and the 50ml bottle cost £21.99. What the heck, I thought. Let?s go with the 50ml bottle. So, I did. And you know what? It didn?t hurt at all to hand over the money for it because I adore this perfume so much. I think the reason why I like so much has as much to do with the fact that it was the first ?proper? perfume that I?d ever had, as well as the fact that it smells gorgeous. Until receiving this as a present, I?d made do with Exclamation, Charlie, So...?, you know, all the cheaper, younger perfumes. Not that there?s anything wrong with those - I still use So...? Kiss (I think it?s called) because it?s a lovely perfume. However, when I opened the wrapping to see this perfume on that Christmas day so long ago, I could have died and gone to heaven.
r>It is, quite simply, gorgeous to look at. The box is white, with a metallic beige strip at one end with ?Boss, Hugo Boss? written in white over this, then in simple red letters ?Woman? written on the white. The bottle inside is just as beautiful; hemisphere-shaped, glass with a metallic beige top with ?Boss, Hugo Boss? embossed on it and woman in red letters printed along the bottom of the bottle. I?d be quite happy just to leave it on my shelf to look at, never mind wear it. The website www.bosswoman.com has a quote from the designer, Lutz Herrman, to explain his design: ?My inspiration was the women of the new Millennium: easy, self-confident, powerful and successful through emotional intelligence." Obviously, I?m not just going to look at it all day but wear it as well, because the smell is to die for. It is warm, sexy and classy and it makes me feel all of those things just to have it wafting from me. The information about the different parts to the smell of the perfume come from the website: ?The top note consists of mandarin, mango and kumquat, yellow pineapple and kiwi.? This would explain why my Boots Orange Shower Gel smells suspiciously like this perfume! ?The heart note is comprised of freesia, iris and passion flower. The heart note can be smelt after a couple of minutes and lasts for a few hours.? I would agree with this; the smell certainly develops after a couple of minutes, and doesn?t have such a citrus smell after a while. ?The base note is the most long-lasting of the fragrance. This consists of white cedar, and sandalwood.? This information I gained from the website; and you can definitely distinguish between the different notes of the perfume as you wear it. It slowly gets less citrussy, sweeter and more subtle as the day passes. This is why you don?t need to reapply it, because the smell lingers and changes rather than simply fading. My friend Matt said after sniffing the tester card, ?It smells like a so
phisticated, evening perfume.? And it is. But it?s also, a wear-it-everyday-to-make-me-feel-good perfume. You need only the tiniest squirt for it to last all day and even all night. Obviously, if you want the smell to be stronger you can re-squirt, but to be honest, there really isn?t any need, as the scent does last a long time. When I had this perfume a couple of years ago, I wore it constantly - day in, day out. I wore it for school, to work and to go out. With this constant use, it lasted me about a year which for me is quite a while for a perfume to last. If you work out the price of the perfume divided by the number of days in a year.... well it?s not much a day to smell and feel gorgeous. I honestly could kiss every person at Hugo Boss for developing this perfume. I absolutely adore it. I probably should write to them, I?m sure they?d appreciate the feedback. The box has the address London, EC1A 4DD, UK on it but you can also contact them at www.bosswoman.com. The Internet address is embellished on the top of the inner cover when you lift up the lid of the main box. I?ve also just found a little silver envelope inside the box. Inside there are some quotes, ?Happiness isn?t getting what you want, it?s wanting what you?ve got.? and ?You?ve got to stand for something, or you will fall for anything.? Then below that, it?s more info about the website, where you can download a free screensaver and send a free sample of the perfume to your friends. I had a look at the website to help me with this op and it tells you all about the perfume, the bottle design, the production team, and the PR behind it so it is quite informative. So, what more can I say? It looks great, smells even better and is well worth the money. I wore this to the ball, and as well as the dress, the shoes, the jewellery, the hair? it all added up to make me feel extra special.
