Advantages: wonderful smell
Disadvantages: price
Our sense of smell like all the senses is very important to us. Imagine a world without the tantalising smell of bacon gently sizzling on the grill ready for that Sunday brunch bacon sandwich. What about walking past Starbucks without smelling that rich coffee smell? Our world would be a duller lifeless place without smells. This is why perfume is so crucial to us. It cheers us up. It boosts our confidence and rekindles cherished memories of favourite places, times and people. We often switch perfumes depending on the occasion, mood and even perhaps outfit. However there are perfumes we often go back to again and again because they are very special to us. My extra special perfume is Deep Red from Hugo Boss. I think I first smelled it in a tester in a magazine or perhaps I tired it Boots when it was released in 2002. I do not remember but what I do remember is loving the scent and having to have it Thus I asked Duskman to buy it for me for Christmas. The bottle I have in front of me is still that same bottle as I do not tend to wear it all the time. I tend to wear it for special occasions or when I need a real boost. Deep Red by Hugo is described as a sophisticated perfume for sensual women with a top note of fruit, a middle note of flowers and a bottom note of something special, something extra perhaps slightly woody and spicy. Would I agree? First things first I will describe the sleek bottle. It is not the most ornate bottle I have in my collection but it is very pleasing to look at and very distinctive. It is made of a very dark red frosted glass and is conical in shape with a silver top. It is modern, simplistic and elegant. At 50 mls it is a decent sized bottle and should last you a while as long as you do not wear it every day or bath in it. The perfume itself is wonderful. The smell is absolutely captivating. I feel it is a very warm homely scent as on first sniff it has a very strong vanilla smell. I would not say it was that fruit
y at all. On second smell I can smell the floral scents of the middle notes. They are not over strong or grannyish. I would say exotic flowers like tiger lilies rather than roses. On first applying Hugo Red it does smell strong but it is never overpowering. I suppose this might have something to do with it being an Eau De Parfum which is the strongest strength of perfume available). Throughout the day it softens and mellows to a nice vanilla smell that I feel comfortable with. I usually like very fresh scents such as Issay Miyaki and CK1 but I must admit vanilla is on of my favourite scents so this is ideal for me. Who is it for? I think this is quite a versatile perfume as it is not too strong for everyday use but does make you feel special and like a million dollars. What man could resist? I?m not sure thus is a teenagers scent due to it being quite strong when it is first applied.. I think you need a bit of life experience to wear this sophisticated little number. The perfume is only available in Eau De Parfum strength. However you can get a coordinating products such as shower gel, body lotion and roll-on deodorant This perfume is not the cheapest one I have. Expect to pay between £20-25 for the perfume and about £15 for the coordinating products. If you are a sexy, sassy, sophisticated women of the world Deep Red by Hugo Boss is for you!

mattydalton - 21/01/04 It annoys me how they price perfumes/aftershaves so highly. If deodorant/anti-perspirant can be produced so cheaply, why can't these?
Oh, nearly forgot, well done on a good review. |
