When Dooyoo reactivate their suggested items feature, I will move this opinion! This opinion is about something I thought long and hard about. As soon as I found out that my second child was to be a son, I decided that there were to be no more additions to our family, one girl and one boy, perfect. So, after having lengthy talks with my partner he agreed that if I wanted to be sterilised, then that was what I should do. I will warn you now that this may be a lengthy opinion, but I simply wanted to get all the facts that I possibly could to help anyone who may be considering sterilization as an option. It has been three and a half years since ... Read the complete review

When I went into hospital for my hysterectomy I kept a diary of what happened and how I felt as a friend of mine was due to have the same operation. I have decided to submit this account in order to try and help anyone else undergoing the same operation. I had an ovary removed a few years earlier and they would not do a hysterectomy then as I might still decided to have children. I knew I wouldn’t but they thought I wasn’t old enough, at 35 or so, to make that decision. I suffered from fibroids from just after the time of the first operation and was eventually given the opportunity to have a hysterectomy. I jumped at the chance. I ... Read the complete review

At 42 I always thought that hysterectomy was an operation for much older women, until I was told that I should consider having one myself. I have some big fibroids (benign tumours on the uterus) and for a few years I have lived with the nuisance value of: heavy periods, pain, backache, fatigue and anaemia. This condition is very common and is one of the most usual reasons for a woman to have a hysterectomy. I was shattered and heart broken and couldn't even get my head round the idea of such a major operation. I bought the excellent book "Hysterectomy and the alternatives" by Jan Clark (Vermillion). In the contacts' section at the back of the ... Read the complete review

Three weeks ago on 20th Nov I had a TVH ie a hysterectomy taken from the vagina, therefore I have no stitches on my tum and to look at me you wouldn't know I'd had anything done, I also had a bladder stitch to improve bladder control and a bit of a tuck and tightening of the vaginal wall - great for any woman! I must admit before surgery I was absolutely petrified. I was mainly worried that I would die on the table, or be left incontinent. Neither happened. I was also worried that I would find it hard to cope with not being able to do anything afterwards. When I got to the hospital they kindly gave me a sedative to calm me down, that was the ... I was the architypal mad axe woman, for 3.5 weeks out of every 4, I suffered and those around me were made to suffer also. I was lucky, I had a GP who was sympathetic and understanding, although me slamming my fist down on his desk and insisting he took me seriously may have had something to do with it. It wasnt just mood swings though, it was painful periods, painful build up to periods, an increasing sensitivity to any vibrations. I had tried so many different treatments, herbal, evening primrose oil, royal jelly, vitam b6 and 12 suppliments, different types of contraceptive, had my hormone levels checked, kept diaries, u name it I did it,until in ...
