To be honest and this will probably sound rather ignorant but until 18 months ago I knew only a little about insulin dependent diabetes, even though I grew up with my Dad having it for most his life. However I became insulin dependent last year. Basically what happens is your pancreas for some unknown reason stops producing insulin. It is thought that it is due to your immune system going into overdrive and it attacks your pancreas. Anyway you need insulin so your body can function properly. It is needed to change glucose into energy so it can be used by your body. As your body no longer makes the insulin you have to inject it into your body. Most people who are insulin dependent have to inject when they eat and also have a long acting injection which you need for example to get you through the night and to cover you for little snacks. There are also some complications of being diabetic you can get eye problems and nerve problems to name a few. It can happen to anyone but mostly to people under the age of 40 and also if your parent has it (more so if its your dad) One of the most annoying things I found after becoming insulin dependent is the fact that people think I bought it upon myself ie. eating too much sugar NNOOOOO I have type 1 which is different to type 2 but as thats in the News that what most people know about.

Summary: Just have to get on with it

People with type 2 do not always 'bring it on themselves' either.

I feel you could have written an awful lot more here.
