Advantages: Perfect eyesight

Disadvantages: Empty pockets

I had lasek corrective surgery 2 years ago and I highly recommend it. Best thing I ever did. Yes there is some discomfort involved and a very small amount of pain which lasted one night, but to have the opportunity to have perfect vision is worth the effort. First of all a slight note of caution. The ads on TV that say "from £395 per eye" are a load of bull. If you had near perfect vision then yes perhaps it would only cost that, but most people with really poor eyesight would expect to pay at least £800 per eye so please bear this in mind so that you do not pass out like I nearly did when they gave me the quote! I was lucky in having very generous parents who paid for me to have the op.
If you wear contacts please make sure you do leave them out for the time they ask you to as the reading they get from the eye test just before the op is how they will set the laser and its really important that this is correct as it can mean the difference between having perfect eyesight or dodgy eyesight afterwards.
The op itself is painless the only discomfort I had was from the things that hold your eyes open thats all. I remember smelling a burning smell whilst the laser was doing its stuff but hey too late to jump off the table then!
The one thing I remember is sitting up after the op and being able to read the clock in the room straight away which was like a mini miracle for me.
Follow their instructions to the letter about the aftercare and drops etc and always make sure you wash your hands before touching your eyes so as not to cause infection.
Five days later I could not wait to get the clear contacts out (put in to help healing) as they were getting itchy and annoying but it was great and I have had absolutely no problems with my eyes since.

Summary: Fully recommend
