Advantages: beautiful, cheap, well made
Disadvantages: none!
I love wearing jewellery to accesorise my style and add an interesting air to even the plainest of outfits. For me to buy a piece of jewellery it has to be eyecatching and well designed yet still affordable.A couple of years ago I found the St Justin range of jewellery and it is just that. St Justin jewellery is handcrafted in the Cornish tin mining area of West Penwth. The jewellery is made from Cornish smelted pewter composed from 90 % tin with copper and antimony to stengthen it.Pewter has been a popular material since the Middle Ages when rich households used it as tableware. It can be fashioned into almost any shape desired and gets as beautiful patina as it ages. The St Justin Craftsmen form the jewellery by melting pewter ingots and pouring into rubber moulds made from the original artists sculpture. After cooling the item is polished and clips etc are welded into place. St Justin make a variey of pieces from bracelets and rings,to boxes and earrings meaning theres something for everyone. The designs are based on Celtic mystic symbolism and art.The Celts were known as "the fathers of Europe" and were a tribe of people sharing common language and culture. For thousands of years they lived in Europe until they became overwhelmed by the Roman and Germanic peoples. They continued to thrive in Britain and France where branches of the Celtic language still exist. Celts were deeply spiritual people who were aware of the power of the natural world and held it sacred to them, and the beauty and majesty of nature can be seen in St Justin jewellery.St Justin I first saw St Justin Jewellery in a glassblowing and craft shop and bought a beautiful necklace which I wear most days. It is a Robin of Locksley Cross(yes thats Robin Hood!), and cost me about £16. The cross is on a strong link chain and has a black polished stone set in the centre of it. Although it is quite large in size it retains a delicate look becaus
e of its soft silvery shine and its simple design. I recived my second pice of St Justin jewellery yesterday as a gift from Scott. He'd seen me looking at it in a shop the other day and had secretly crept back and got it for me-what a sweetie! Its a small pentagram(star) which is a piece of Wiccan symbolism. Its really fragile looking and very intricate, perfect for wearing with a gorgeous evening dress or with a casual top.As it was a present I don't know how much it cost, but it was definetly not that expensive as I know my boyfriend doesn't have much money until his next pay cheque. The st Justin website advises use of warm soapy water, through drying and a soft silver polishing cloth to keep your piece in best condition. I would definetly recommend St Justin jewwllery as a gift for someone else or a treat for yourself. The pieces are affordable and the pieces are well made. I always get comlpliments when I wear my pendants, and I'm sure its the jewellery and not just the wearer:-p A really nice touch about St Justin is the information booklet with each item,so you can read a little of its history and if it has any symbolism.
