Advantages: Healthy and delicious!
Disadvantages: Just don't over do it!
I thought I'd review some juicing recipes following my review on "Juicing in General". You may gather that I love juicing! I started a few years ago basically to eat (or drink!) healthier as I seemed to be lazy in eating the recommended daily amount of fruit and veg. Now juicing is not a substitute for this but it certainly helps giving your body the vitamins and minerals is needs to function.
Now in my previous review I explained the different combinations and what to put with what to get a certain result. However juicing doesn't have to be done in a certain way. You can mix any fruit any veg or fruit and veg together and if you like the taste then great! You don't have to stick to the guidelines of certain combinations. Experimenting is all part of the fun.
The best time to drink your fresh juices is on an empty stomach--at least half an hour before a meal. This is when your stomach hungers for food and would pounce on anything you consume.
When you drink a nutritious healthy fresh juice, your body quickly absorbs all that you consume, wasting nothing. Likewise, when you eat something harmful on an empty stomach, it would all be as quickly absorbed. So choose wisely.
Tropical fruit juice
1 orange
1 kiwi
½ mango
squeeze of lime juice
Peel the orange but keep as much pith on as possible. Peel the skin of the kiwi if you prefer, as this removes the bitter taste. Cut the kiwi into slices, and divide the orange into segments. Peel the mango and chop into small pieces. Pass the fruit through the juicer and mix well.
Kiwi and strawberry juice
3 kiwi fruit
115 gof strawberries
Peel the kiwi fruit and cut into slices. Wash the strawberries well. Place all ingredients into the juicer and process. Stir and mix with crushed ice.
Power Juice
6 Leaves Sorrel
2 Large Braeburn Apples cored and unpeeled cut into quarters
1 Peeled Lime
1 Sprig Mint with Stems
A small bunch of Parsley
This one needs to be drunk on an empty stomach and food cannot be consumed for up to an hour afterwards. Wash the fruit and veg and start to juice!. Stir and pour.
V-8
5-6 Carrots
1 Beet
3 Large Tomatoes
1 bunch Spinach
1/8 Cabbage
Kale leaves
1 Red Bell-Pepper
1 stalk Celery
1/4 sweet Onion
1/2 clove Garlic
(add chili pepper and salt if
desired.)
Wash the vegetables thoroughly and cut up into small pieces so they can go through the juicer better. Then blend away!
All the above receipes are great and taste great too (maybe not so much the Power Juice!) and really give your body a good boost!
Summary: A healthy way of getting four five a day!
