Advantages: Quality product, Good for sensitive skin, Better than cheaper rivals
Disadvantages: Could be seen as pricey
L'Occitane Cade After shave balm Being a chap with sensitive skin, I have found in the past that the various products I have used on my skin have had some mixed results. Often I have found that some brands of products can cause a break out of spots, or even a rash to appear, so have in recent years I have tried to stick to more natural, higher quality products. Having used a few other L'Occitane products in the past such as the hand cream and body wash, I was in no doubt that the after shave balm would live up to the company's reputation for quality moisturising products. :: What L'Occitane say... Cade after shave balm is enriched with a complex of Cade essential oil, nourishing shea butter and firming extract of silver birch sap. The balm smoothes the skin immediately, preventing redness and the feeling of tightness. It moisturises and softens the skin, and also fortifies and protects the epidermis from daily irritants such as air conditioning, pollution, sun and cold). In addition, it also regulates the secretion of sebum and prevents the spread of bacteria. :: Packaging As with alot of the L'Occitane range, the packaging for this product has quite a rustic feel about it, with a muted coloured outer box and an aluminium tube inside containing the product. Although this styling has become quite trendy in recent years, the theme is nothing new to L'Occitane who have produced such packaging since they started back in the mid-seventies. The overall look is fairly classy, and ensures you don't feel embarrassed about leaving the products lying around in the bathroom. As with other products, the outer box also features brail embossed into the rear of it to help those with visual difficulties. :: Insi
de the tube The balm itself is white and although has a thicker consistency than most, it is fluid enough to be smoothed easily across your face. It has a slight fragrance, which can be described as sort of old fashioned manly, which probably comes from the cade, wild juniper and rosemary it contains. When applied, the balm appears to be absorbed quite quickly without being greasy. Throughout the day you aware that you have applied the balm as you can still kind of feel it in a reassuring type way. Although its main purpose is to smooth skin and soothe the effects of shaving, you can use it all over your face to benefit all round from it moisturising and healing properties. :: The rest? Although it is not the cheapest cream at around £15 for 75ml, it can still be seen as good value due both its quality and performance. If used all over the face, like I do, a tube will last you just over two months... that time scale will probably more than double if it is used only on shaved areas.
