Advantages: It leaves skin feeling clean, soft and refreshed, It smells gorgeous
Disadvantages: It looks like Cocnut Ice but it isn't edible
By now I'm sure many of you will already know that through Dooyoo I have been converted to a Lush addict like so many others. For any of you who don't know, (and I'm sure there can't be many), Lush produce a wide variety of toiletries etc which are all handmade and made using only natural ingredients. Most, if not all, Lush products are suitable for use by vegetarians and many are also suitable for use by vegans. I first read about the I Should Coco Soap Bar in a review by fellow Lush addict KarenUK who swears by it, so when I was recently browsing around my local Lush Shop eyeing up all the lovely fragrant goodies trying to decide what to buy I decided to check this product out to see what all the fuss was about. I was initially put off by the price as it isn't cheap at £1.50 for 100g, ie £15.00 per kg, however as with all Lush soap products it does serve more than one purpose, ie it doesn't just get you clean it also fragrances your body and contains essential oils which help to look after your skin, as I have been suffering with dry itchy skin lately I decided not to let the price put me off and purchased a 0.130kg piece for £1.95. All Lush soaps are made using large moulds and then hand cut. They are displayed in the shop in large blocks and the assistant will cut you a piece to suit your requirements. Usually there are a couple of pieces ready cut and you can if you like just select a piece which has already been cut and priced. Once you have selected your soap it is wrapped in a piece of simple white paper and fastened with a Lush label which displays the product name, the price per kg, the weight of the piece and the total price for the piece, a brief description of the product, ie what it does and looks like, and the date of purchase. Lush put the date of purchase onto the label as where possible they don't use preservatives and therefore the products may start to deteriorate aft
er a period of time, however, I have never experienced anything deteriorating and I would imagine that as the products are so lovely in most cases you would have used them long before they would even get close to expiring. I Should Coco is easily recognisable as it resembles a large slab of coconut ice, it has a deep white base and has real pieces of pink and white desiccated coconut sprinkled on top. Just in case you have young children who are fans of coconut ice it may be advisable to keep this out of their reach as it lookds very attractive and could easily be mistaken as being the real thing by a small child. The soap contains orange oil which detoxes, tones and refreshes the skin, creamed coconut infusion which helps to soften the skin and desiccated coconut which gently exfoliates the skin. So now you know all about the product you want to know how it performs. Once wet the soap lathers well and smells heavenly, although it lathers well it washes off very easily. As you would expect it has a very strong coconut scent and this scent lingers on the body for hours after use leaving you feeling clean and refreshed and smelling gorgeous for the whole day or evening. I have been using this soap for about 3-4 weeks now and I have found that my skin feels so much softer since I have been using it and it is not at all itchy now, in particular the rough, dry patches I had experienced on my elbows are now lovely and smooth and no longer sore and cracked. I have been using the soap daily for 3-4 weeks and it has hardly reduced in size since I bought it, my skin is in much better condition and feels so much better, I would definitely recommend you try this product if you suffer from dry skin and even if you don't it is still worth trying just because of its' fragrance. As it is quite highly fragranced, although not overpowering, I have noticed that when I walk into my bathroom now I am greeted by
the pleasant fragrance of coconut - so it even doubles up as an air freshener! If you don't fancy the coconut fragrance but like the idea of a soap that does more than just cleanse Lush stock a wide variety of soaps with a wide variety of properties and fragrances, for more information you can visit their website at www.lush.co.uk - you can request a copy of the Lush Times from the website, the Lush Times is a magazine produced by Lush which details all their products. Unfortunately Lush only make their products for themselves and therefore they can only be purchased directly from a Lush shop or from their website which can be found at www.lush.co.uk. Thank you for reading. Julie

- 22/10/02 Now I was disappointed with the last bar I bought of this. Previous bars seemed to last for years, but this latest one only a few weeks and was really crumbly!
Perhaps we'll have more luck with the next one :o) |
