Advantages: lovely products, innovative policies
Disadvantages: Expensive
Lush is a company selling beauty products with a difference from its chain of shops and website. I first bought from Lush many years ago when it was a tiny company called cosmetics to go selling cruelty free products, my favourite was the Happy Hippy shower gel which is still on sale today. Over the years it has grown into a highly succesfull company.
Lush uses organic fruit and vegetables, essential oils and safe synthetics to make their range of products. Its product range is different from the average high street shop including bath bombs, shower jellies, fresh face packs, perfumes, soap wedges, solid shampoos and conditioners and the new emotibombs. Its products have great names such as the mask of magnaminty face and back pack and the lemslip butter.
The products are on the whole lovely to use leaving your body and bathroom smelling divine but there are also a few duds in there. Its a good idea to flick through some reviews before you visit Lush to see what other people are saying about the individual products.
Shopping in Lush is a fabulous experience. You get to browse at leisure and they have bowls of water dotter around so you can try the products out. The staff are always happy to help out and answer your questions but can occasionally deliver the hard sell too.
It's one of the few shops on the high street that provides proucts certified by the vegan society and it has one of the most stringent policies on animal testing around and only buys its ingredients from companies who do not test or commision tests on animals.
Lush also has great policies on packaging. All of the bags used are paper and much of the packaging for the individual products is compostible.
The only downside is that you will pay a lot more for products from Lush than from other stores. Its an ideal place to shop for gifts, I know very few women who would not be delighted with a package of Lush goodies. Its also ideal to treat yourself to a little bit of luxury from time to time, well thats my excuse anyway!
