Advantages: Smells gorgeous, Leaves skin feeling clean and refreshed and smelling great
Disadvantages: Mine didn't have any little stars in it
Lush produce a wide variety of toiletries etc which are all handmade and are made using only natural ingredients. I am slowly making my way through the bath products and have fallen in love with many along the way but one of my favourite products is the Lush Creamy Candy Bubble Bar. I was therefore pleased to learn that Lush have recently introduced a new soap called Rockstar which is fragranced using exactly the same vanilla perfume as the Creamy Candy Bubble Bar. Having read about the new Rockstar soap on the Lush website I couldn't wait to get my mitts of a slice so at the earliest possible opportunity I took myself off to the Southampton Store to check it out for myself. All Lush soaps are made using large moulds and then hand cut. They are usually displayed on the shop counter in large blocks but as there is currently a Valentines Day promotions running which features this soap, when I visited my local Store it was on display with all the other Valentines products. I spotted immediately the product as it is a really bright (Blackpool Rock) colour pink. The soap was on display as a large block and by viewing it like this you are able to see how the product had got its' name. The base of the soap is "rock" coloured and the top is covered with large white stars - hence the name Rockstar, clever hey? When I visited there were a couple of slices of soap that had already been cut and immediately I picked a piece and sniffed it I was in love - the fragrance is identical to the Creamy Candy Bubble Bar and is described by Lush as smelling like a sweet shop - a very accurate description. The best way I can describe the fragrance to you is to tell you to imagine that you are smelling a bag full of mixed 1p sweets - the scent is very sweet but not sickly. The soap contains vanilla perfume but don't let that put you off - I'm not really a fan of the vanilla fragrance but in my opinion this doesn't
really smell very much like vanilla. You can choose a pre cut slice from the display or if the pieces of soap on display are too large or too small for your requirements you can ask the assistant to cut you a slice to the weight/size that suits your requirements. I requested a 100g slice and the young male assistant advised me that he would cut me a slice with the star on the top which delighted me no end - little things give me so much pleasure!!! Rockstar retails at £16.00 per kilogram which works out at £1.60 per 100g and my 0.120kg slice cost £1.92. You may consider that to be expensive for a piece of soap but I can assure you that it was worth every penny. Once my slice of soap had been cut, the assistant wrapped it in a piece of Lush printed paper and fastened it with a Lush label. The label contained the product name, the price per kg, the weight of the piece and the total price for the piece. Also detailed on the wrapper is a brief description of the product and the date it was sold. Lush put the date of purchase onto the label as where possible they don't use preservatives and therefore the products may start to deteriorate after a period of time. I would be surprised if anybody purchasing this soap would have to worry about it deteriorating though as it is so lovely that I'm sure it will be long gone before it is due to expire. Having made my purchase I was eager to get home and try it out. Just to make the experience even more luxurious and pleasurable I waited until after my aerobics class to use it and then ran a nice hot bath, added a Creamy Candy Bubble Bar and then lit a couple of candles just to create a nice relaxing atmosphere. Once wet the soap lathers really well and I have found that a little bit goes a long way. The fragrance is heavenly and the soap leaves your skin feeling soft and moisturised and smelling good enough to eat. As an added bonus I have noticed th
at immediately I enter my bathroom I can now smell the soap - wet or dry and this in itself acts as a really nice air freshener. The only complaint I have had with this product is that Lush advises that it contains little stars within the soap - I am on my second bar and to date haven't found any little stars. As with all Lush products this product is suitable for use by vegetarians. Unfortunately this soap has been brought out for a limited time only so if you want to try it you will have to be quick. **GIFT IDEAS** If you are looking for a special Mothers Day gift for the children to give to their Mum/Granny this soap coupled with perhaps a bath ballistic or the Creamy Candy Bubble Bar would make a really nice relaxing and well received present. Alternatively if you want to a plan passionate Valentines evening then why not invite your loved one over, run a nice deep bath a fill it with bubbles and confetti hearts by adding the Lush Bottle of Lurve Bubble bar, (a white bubble bar shaped like a bottle and packed with little pink & white hearts), place the Rockstar soap nearby and use it to wash each other with and for afters when your feeling all hot and steamy you can finish off the treat by giving each other a massage with the Lush after 8.30 Massage Bar. The Rockstar Soap and other products mentioned within the above review are all available from any Lush shop or the Lush website that you can find at www.lush.co.uk. **UPDATE** I have since been advised by another member that apparently the little stars mentioned on the packaging are actually referring to the large stars on the top of the soap - so it looks like I did my my little stars after all. Thank you for reading. Julie
