Advantages: Clears your sinuses from 20 paces!
Disadvantages: There are cheaper ways of buying soap
If you are walking down the busy high street in Guildford or Kingston-Upon-Thames and you smell a wonderful aroma, (no, not the hot dog van) chances are you are somewhere near a Lush shop. Lush would probably HATE me for saying it, but they run along the same lines as The Body Shop used to - i.e. natural ingredients used in their myriad of skincare and bath products. But where Body Shop have moved on to diversify and appeal to the masses, Lush sell products in blocks, (soaps) which have to be cut to order; tubs that you fill yourself (power) and blobs (bath 'balisters') which you bag yourself. The sensuous nature of the products' smell and texture make them irresistible to buy - who can resist the fresh face masks and skin treatments which have to be kept on ice (or the 'fridge, but don't eat them!) or chocolate soaps in white, plain and milk? Speaking of soaps, if you buy nothing else, I would recommend a piece of the twelve of so on offer: presented in the same way as some shops sell home-made fudge, they are probably the best thing in the shop. Which one do I recommend? I couldn't say. Other products on offer are block shampoos - the one for dandruff sufferers absolutely stinks, but it does the trick and works out a lot cheaper than Head and Shoulders! My one dislike is the bath balister. The idea is that you put the tennis ball-sized blob in the bath and watch it fizz to oblivion. Fine you might think - except for the swampy mush of flowers which now surrounds you in the water and after cleaning the bath you will never want to see another one! Other things which I have tried include 'Ibiza Party Shampoo'- ok but you'll definitely need to wash your hair again the next day; also 'Silky Underwear' talc- very good, but tends to go lumpy in the tub if not used quickly. So my advice is - give your nose a treat and take it to a Lush shop - you'll love it! (They also have a web
site).
