Advantages: good quality in all departments

Disadvantages: can some times be a bit pricey in the food hall.

Marks and Spencers always spells out quality to me. I love going to shop there,as you know that whatever you purchase, whether it be a top or a trifle It will be of a high standard.
Marks and Spencers is a high street department store. It is very popular, and therefore has a store in most major towns and cities. Over the last few years m and s (as its affectionately called) has also began to pop up in many out of town retail parks too.
M and S Have a great selection of departments. One of these departments is the great clothing section, for ladies, men and children. It is worth noting that, within these clothing sections, there are also designer collections that are designed specifically for M and S. One such designer who has a successful collection in store is zandra Rhodes. I think its fantastic that m and s are collaborating with the's big designers to help provide designer clothes but at high street prices.
M and S own clothing range has taken quite a lot of criticism in the last few years, for its safe and sensible designs. However they have worked well to revamp the style of clothes they sell now. I have to say many of the items on sale are sexy, modern and well made. One thing I do admire though is that they still sell the staple, sensible wardrobe pieces which therefore does not alienate the previous customers, who helped to make the business so successful.
It is important to note if you are looking for a cheap and cheerful jumper, that you will wash twice and then have to throw away then you will be disappointed with m and s. While m and s is not super expensive it certainly isn't cheap as chips. But I believe that you pay for quality and for the prices you pay for these items, the standard and quality is unbelievable.
The homewear department in m and s is of a very high standard. There are classic pieces but also very contemporary modern pieces too which therefore caters for every need. The homewear products always ooze sophistication and class and I think what ever you buy from the homewear range, it will add a touch of class to your household. I have bought both bedding and glasswear in m and s and not only is it very stylish, But the quality is second to none. The bedding has been washed numerous times, unyet still holds its colour and quality. The glasswear too has also been used a few times unyet has not chipped or lost its sparkle. In regards to cost I don't think m and s home wear is any more expensive than any other department store.
Food hall
The m and s food hall is divine.The quality of the food is reflected in the prices though, because it is a lot dearer than asdas or tesco. But as you know this is not just any pie. this is a pie made from the finest cuts of meat, cooked until tender and topped with succulent crispy puff pastry... (blah blah blah) Those adverts always make me laugh cause I always think Its like porn for greedy people. However I defy anyone to watch these adverts and not think I need that cake now!!! I digress.
The choice of food in m and s is very good. they always seem to go that bit extra with the quality of the products they are selling. Using Locally sourced produce and high class recipes that will bring out the most shy of taste buds. All food is fantastically packaged, usually with gorgeous pictures of the food emblazoned across the front of the box. All packaging is labelled with vital information for the consumer regarding allergies and nutritional values.
The flowers and fresh fruit, which is also situated in the food hall, is of such a high quality too. All the fruit has come from the fruit modelling agency as they are so good looking. No irregular shaped apples or black marks on the banannas here!!! each piece of fruit seems to be hand selected. However the price on the fruit is a bit on the steep side. But you know that you will not be disappointed in the taste. The flowers are again exceptional,all bouquets seem to be put together with great style. The flowers always seems to stay fresh for a little bit longer.
One final thing I must mention.With Christmas fast approaching, it is worth having a look at the selection of gift sets available in store. These range from bath and indulgent body lotions to cheese and port. All the gift sets are again gorgeously packaged and will gain you brownie points with even the most grumpiest of relatives.
If all this shopping makes you hungry then head to the in store coffee shop. which as is the case in all of the store offers high quality. Coffee comes in real nice mugs, and they serve the most scrumptious of cakes. Makes you want to go shopping just for that.
I would say m and s is one of the best stores on the high street today, in that it caters for everyone's needs and budgets. Next time your in town just go in and have a browse you may be pleasantly surprised. Or alternatively if you cant get out, go online as m and s have their own web site where you can order things from the comfort of your own armchair.

Summary: If its good enough for twiggy then its good enough for me!!
