Advantages: boosts energy levels, relaxing
Disadvantages: costly if done professionally, best with a partner
Feeling low, tired and a bit sorry for myself I laid on the most uncomfortable sofa ever sulking. The other half had became majority annoyed with me a few hours ago and left me to wallow in self pity, not that I was really complaining. The thing was I had had such a stressful day, one of those where you come home and want to do two one of two things, either put your fist through a wall or have mind blowing sex. I had not done either of these and was extremely wound up and tense. After watching some rubbish on tv, that I really couldn’t be bothered with I decided to lay down in bed, I love my bed it’s so comfy and relaxing. As I did my boyfriend proceeded to undress me, know I was not impressed as I was not on friendly terms with him, but then he went. As you can imagine I was well annoyed. But like a good little bunny a few minutes later he came back with a sweet smelling aroma following him, which I soon found out was massage oil. As he gently poured the warm oil onto my legs and back I was a little shocked as it hit my body, even though it wasn’t cold it was still a foreign substance. His hands worked their magic and as the oil rubbed into my soft skin I was transported to a world away from the everyday stress and strains. I could feel the tension being pushed out of me and my worries going away. I was as relaxed as I have ever been, and was only too happy to repay my bunny for his act of love and kindness. But that’s nothing to do with massage… Anyway let’s see a lot of people, me included, associate massage with sex, and well I don’t see anything wrong with that personally. I don’t think I have ever given, or received a massage off a partner without it leading to some kind of sexual antics, maybe it’s just me but it gets me so relaxed and well horny (sorry if I can’t say that!). Massage is a brilliant way to help soothe aches and pains and make you forget a
bout all the things, which bugged you throughout the day. It relieves tired muscles and just basically relaxes you wonderfully. The three areas where tension builds up, neck, feet and lower back particularly benefit from a good old rub down. History of massage… The art of massage goes back years, well they had to relax then as well. It was used y the Greeks, Chinese, Japanese and can even be linked with the Buddhist movement. Everybody has contributed to the various and wide stretching techniques of massage that there are in the world today. Be it Indian head massage, or a Tantric massage there seems to be one linked to every country, belief or religion. I will make it my mission in life to have as many different massages as possible… Benefits of Massage… There are many reasons why massage is used on the body, primarily it was to get rid of stresses and strains which manifest themselves in the muscles, but there are many things you can get out of a good, long massage. Most massages last about an hour, if they concentrate on one particular part of the body, a full body massage could last from five hours plus, so prepare for the ultimate experience. A whole body massage is classed as a Swedish one, another great thing we have got from Scandinavia then. - Relieving pain Many athletes and those with sore muscles use massage to soothe aching and tired, this is due to a lack of oxygen in the muscle, like when lactic acid builds up and causes cramp. Massage aids the body to discard toxins and allow oxygen to get into the muscles. Thus letting pain simply disperse out of the body. - For headaches We all get headaches, I suppose it’s the most common complaint in society. A headache is just a build up of tension and so by relaxing the neck and upper back, you can aid the headache. It can also stop you getting headaches because of tension and stress if you have continual massages in the are
a. - Back pain Something that I know all about is pain in the back, especially lower back. In my job I do a lot of bending over and some lifting, which puts strain on my lower back. As a result I often find myself in a great deal of pain and looking for relief. By focusing on this area and having a deep massage on it you will find the pain soothed and a lot better in future. Massaging the hip helps as well. - Aiding fitness Massage increases circulation and the flow of oxygen in the body, although you do not do anything massage is like aerobics to the muscles, and so it is a form of exercise. It will therefore aid your fitness. - Keep you young looking Now stay with me, you may think that I am totally stupid here but the more oxygen you have going round the body the longer it takes you to age, so it does help. - Prevent wrinkles It does this by replenishing vital moisture and wrinkles can be ‘pushed’ out of the face in effect. - Feel good factor One of the main benefits of massage is that it relaxes you and makes you feel good, it calms the brain in a way. - Help you sleep I often find that a massage sends me into a state of deep relaxation and makes me all sleepy, I get the best nights sleep after my boyfriend has worked his magic fingers on me. Where and How to Massage… I suppose everyone is different and like people to concentrate on various parts of their body, I personally like it a little rough, hard deep massage concentrating on the back of my neck and shoulders. Oh and my legs. I always find it is best to use some form of oil to make the massage more effective, I have used everything from baby oil to moisturiser to massage oils. It doesn’t matter what you use as long as there is some lubrication to stop a build up of friction. To make up your own massage oil mix equal amounts of a ‘carrier’ oil and an ‘essentia
l’ oil, will make all the difference I promise! When massaging it is important to give the receiver what they like but also remember not to exert too much pressure onto bony areas, like the spine and shoulder blades. There is no set sequence to giving a massage; I generally just tend to go with the flow and concentrate on areas with a lot of tension in them. However if you want a pattern to follow I find the following a good order… 1. Front of the legs, this is fantastic for initial relaxation revitalising sore and aching legs. 2. Lower back 3. Upper back 4. Neck 5. Head I find this a good sequence (2 – 5) as it concentrates on the nervous system and in a sense pushes any aches upwards where you can deal with them next. Great for getting into a deeply relaxed state. 6. Arms 7. Hands 8. Back of the legs 9. Feet Technique… - The neck Begin with the shoulder blade gently (but firmly) moving upwards towards the scalp. Repeat the stroke. Then massage the muscular bit at the base of your neck (I love this being done) in a circle and I like a lot of pressure on this part. End by rubbing the scalp a little, just to complete the whole experience. - Lower back On the floor, bed, sofa or where ever lay down and let a partner send you into a state of pleasure. Rub in circles to both sides of the spine and then up and down the lower back, pushing the skin. Concentrate on the hips as well. Lean into the stroke to increase the pressure. - Feet Unfortunately my other half has something against feet and refuses to do mine, which is a shame, I therefore have to do them myself as best I can. Rub the full length of the foot, then play with the toes a little, pushing on them, rub between the toes and finally rub the ankle. Massage is basically a series of strokes, which is best received in a rhythm with
a little bit of pressure. One of the most relaxing things on this world is a massage, even if it does not lead to sex. Some parts of the body you can do yourself, although I must admit I feel this is not a good, as I like to just lay back and enjoy. Massage is always best with a partner, then you can return the favour. Last night my other half was a little unwell so I spent an hour on his neck and upper back, he then slept like a baby. I must say though that if you do it for too long your hands will begin to suffer! Unfortunately I have never been to a professional masseuse, but I intend to put all that right, when the boyfriend gets home. I expect it is fantastic when the persona is actually trained to give you pleasure. So that’s my next port of call. I would recommend massages to anyone, for relaxation, beating stress or as foreplay, lay down and enjoy! Brilliant for your health.
