Like the other opinion before me, I experienced blepharitis, presenting as a sore eye. I let mine go on for ages, and it just felt like a sore eye, sometimes worse, sometimes better. It was better after swimming, and worse in air conditioning. I ended up at the eye clinic at Barnet Hosptial, which functions as an outpost of the Royal Free. I was sent up there urgently by my GP, and they were really great, seeing me within a couple of hours of seeing my GP. September last year and I was aware of a slight soreness to my right eye. It went on for a couple of days and then suddenly early Saturday morning it became unbearable. I had tears streaming down my face and it felt as though I had a bucket of sand in my eye. I could neither keep it shut nor open, it was painful either way and it was now seriously bloodshot.
