I had gradually felt weaker and more tired over the last two or three years. My resistance to illness seemed particularly low. Believing I was "a bit low" I took multi-vitamins and minerals. Things picked up briefly but then gradually deteriorated, double doses didn't make much difference, nor did the exercise bike. I couldn't understand why I had to rest when climbing stairs, even a single flight (it was only 1998 that I'd had a diving medical and the doctor had been very impressed).
