Chicken pox sucks! My experience with this illness started the week before Christmas 2009. I awoke one Wednesday morning (the day my son was due to have his Christmas dinner at school) and my son told me he had a apot on his head. At 4.5 I thought it a little early to start getting spots but assumed it must be abite of somesort and carried on rushing around getting him ready for school. He was fine in himself. This was at 8.15am. I took him to the gates and he had a spot on his chin by the time we got there. Wow, i thought, he is turning into a pre-pubescent teen early. Thought nothing else of it and escorted him into his classroom. This is 9am and I am unaware of ... Read the complete review

I will never forget the itching and the great discomfort. I would lie in my bed feeling sorry for myself moaning to whoever would listen that, 'I have never been in so much pain in my life'. Of course, a further 12 years of living has changed that but at the time chicken pox was the most unpleasant illness I had ever had. MY EXPERIENCE I was only 15 years old and it was a Friday and I was at school, in jovial mood as I was being collected by my mother to be taken home for the weekend. In the morning I noticed a spot or lump on my arm. I thought I had been bitten by an insect and thought no more of it until I began to find more ... Read the complete review

Having read the other ops on this subject I hesitated as to whether I should add my 2 pennyworth but I have a couple of different points which just may be of some help to you. We tend to dismiss this as a ‘childhood’ illness as if that means it is not very serious. Wrong! It can be very serious and give rise to complications especially in adults and even more dangerous for pregnant women. The virus is spread from person to person in airborne droplets and you are highly infectious from about two weeks before the rash appears until about one week after. My first experience of chickenpox was when my daughter caught it aged four. As I was ... Read the complete review

Did you see that 'icky' picture on the front page of this category? It WAS 'icky' wasn't it? However horrid that picture is though, my son Kieran looked worse when he had chicken pox. Believe me, he did - much, much, MUCH worse. He was the ultimate in poor little things. You would have said 'awwww' and probably 'ewwww' too. He looked dreadful. But I should begin at the beginning shouldn't I? He wasn't the first of my two to get chicken pox. Conor got it on the day of his fifth birthday. Michael was off at the local community centre organising his big bash. I was at work when I got a phone call from the ... Read the complete review

When I was 5 I was beginning to come down with chicken pox. I think this got triggered from being in contact with a baby of one of my mum's friend's on an occasion, as it had happened just the day after. I remember feeling itchy and hot, and like some kind of horror movie there were small risings in my skin. Yep, I had the pox, my mum new from the look of me. I never saw myself in the mirror though, also due to me being too short for the bathroom mirror back then. But anyway, my mum put me into bed and I was given the standard chicken pox treatment. ...Except things got a bit worse. I didn't have the traditional symptoms (I guess when it ...
