A 13 year old girl with a persistent conjunctivitis recently attended the eye clinic where I worked, accompanied by her Mother and a letter from her GP. The letter from her GP stated quite clearly that the patient was suffering from a chlamydial infection. Being a parent myself I'll admit I was horrified that any 13 year old could become sexually active and contract a disease that can cause a whole range of problems. It was whilst dealing with this girl and her obviously distressed Mother that I thought about writing this opinion Chlamydia is one of the sexually transmitted diseases that unfortunately is on the increase. Back in the 80's when the message ... Read the complete review

I notice I am the first to write about this subject. Yet out of all the members of DooYoo, an estimated 10% or more could have this infection, which can cause serious problems if left untreated. So read this- it could teach you something! Chlamydia is thought to be the most prevalent STD and there are thought to be nearly a million new cases each year. Why is this? I think that things have changed since the 80's, when condoms were promoted as protection against AIDS, a new and frightening disease. This opinion is aimed at any woman who has had sexual intercourse in her life and who has yet to have a smear. I know that experts say that only those over 18, sexually active for 3 years etc, but it is not just cervical cancer that can be detected in such circumstances. This is how I discovered I had chlamydia. Otherwise I wouldn't have known and could have ended up with serious problems such as Pelvic Inflammatory Disease and infertility. I had no ... When things go wrong with your body, you can usually tell. But when it comes to sexually transmitted diseases STDs thats not always the case. Of the many STDs floating around these days, two vacterial infections in particular can do serious damage if left untreated. And, in more than half of cases, they dont trigger any symptoms at all. You are often simply left in t6he dark that you got something until the other problems the infection causes start coming to light. Theres more, these bugs are extremely common and, for 50% of women who get them, its possible to be infected with both at the same time. If you are sexually active, you need to learn about the risks for ... Read the complete review

I had reason to believe that I may have contracted chlamydia recently. I split from my partner after finding out he had slept around behind my back countless times. This was heartbreaking enough but then I heard through the grapevine that he had been treated for Chlamydia. I was so angry that he had put all of us girls in a predicament that could ultimately cost us our fertility. I read up on the net about chlamyida and found some shocking statistics like 75% of infected women have no symptoms of chlamydia - this is scary for something that could have really serious effects. I was getting more and more worried - even though it was ... Read the complete review
