In May this year (2002) just before I got married to Michael I was diagnosed with Crohns disease which is infecting the lower part of my bowel. Many people, even I, have never heard of Crohn's disease or even Ulcerative Colitis and medical practitioners even seem a little baffled. It all started in about July 2001 (ps do not read on if you are squeemish) when I went to the toilet at work and couldn't pass a stool. Instead all that came out was a very thin, light coloured substance - supposed diarrhoea but none like I'd had before. As of 9th Decemeber 2002 I have added my recent experiences at the end. I warn you there is one swear word as well. Crohn's Disease is a misnomer. It isn't a disease so don't worry, you won't catch it from me just by reading this rant. It is a condition which affects the digestive tract and it has no cure at the moment, it is classed as a chronic illness. I have written about the illness followed by my own experiences, it is not for the squeamish so be warned!
