As long as I could remember I had experienced difficult and painful menstruation. In my twenties and thirties an undiagnosed Thyroid condition finally received treatment and many of my menstruating problems eased and were put down to my thyroid. The thyroid condition reoccurred a couple of times until eventually I underwent radioactive iodine treatment and this seemed to finally get things under control. However in the mid 1980's my periods became even more difficult. Being in my mid to late thirties by then the Doctors considered that I was having an early menopause or was just a baby. Eventually I returned to my GP'S again, however this time I found a much ... Read the complete review

Ok for those of you who do not know what this condition is I will in my own words give you a brief discription of what this condition is. I will then give you an insight of how this condition has affected me, the battles and heartbreak I've endured. Now Endometriosis is a gynaecological condition which is known to affect over 2million women in the UK alone yet it is still a very poorly understood condition which often leads to misdiagnosis in many women. Now during a normal Menstrual cycle the Endometrial cells which line the womb break down and start to bleed leaving the body as what we know as our monthly period, but for women who suffer from ... I was diagnosed with Endometriosis in 2001, although I'd had "bad" periods since they began, but had been told "all women get period pain - live with it!" You don't have to though - it wan't normal to have to spend the day before and the first 2 days of my period in bed, dosed up to the eyeballs on painkillers. I finally went to see my GP and asked for a referral to a Gynaecologist. I know of many women who have been told its all in their head - It isn't, don't listen to them, it's your body and you know it best, if it hurts, there is a reason for it, find out what. However, I go any further about this awful condition, I just want to ... Read the complete review

Just thought I would update my old medical ops, people seem to find them useful. I hope this will prove beneficial to others. Endometriosis is a condition that affects a great many women that I see daily as a gynaecologist working in London. Most people fail to understand how distressing this condition can be to women and how much pain they can be in. I have also found that endometriosis has been poorly explained to patients I have seen so I hope this op will be useful to those suffering with this and those who have friends or family that do. A bit of background first some of this I am sure some of you already know but I think it is beneficial ... Read the complete review

If you haven't got it then you probably wouldn't have a clue, unless you are a doctor. If you have then welcome to the club. I've had this for 7 years and it's been hell on earth. I know I'm not the only one. It's the first time I've talked about it. It's a painfull illness which is caused by the endometrium (or the lining of the womb). Sorry if I have to get graphic, but if I didn't you wouldn't understand it. This delightful lining is there to protect the womb should we get pregnant, however it also causes a lot of damage and pain. It escapes from the womb, generally via the fallopian tubes and deposits itself ... Read the complete review
