Advantages: none
Disadvantages: Itchy eyes, sneezing and a runny nose
I have pretty much had Hayfever all my life, I was diagnosed at about 5 or 6 years old, my mum was told that hayfever is an allergic reaction to pollen, however at that age I could`nt remember the symptoms, but as I got older the symptoms started to really bother me.
Signs of my hayfever starting
The first sign that my hayfever was starting was an itch at the back of my throat then it was the sneezing, the itchy red eyes and the runny nose. It was like having a cold only with itchy eyes as well.
Medication
So each year I would go to the GP and he would give me my usual medication which is Rhinocourt Nasal Spray, Opticrom eyedrops and Triludan Tablets. The nasal spray and the eye drops had to be taken four times per day and the tablets had to be taken once per day.
What triggered my hayfever
I dont know what triggered my hayfever but I am allergic to the pollen in the air and in the summer if I did`nt have my medication I would really suffer with the symptoms I have already mentioned, I would go about closing windows and I tried to stay indoors as much as I possibly could, although this did`nt help much.
I remember one time in fifth year at school, I was in the middle of my G.C.S.Es and I sneezed that much and my eyes were that itchy I could`nt concentrate on my exam.
An annoying illness
Although Hayfever is`nt really a serious illness it is really annoying, it seems to pop up at the wrong times like holidays and out with friends. I still suffer with hayfever now, but it is`nt as bad as it used to be and I still take the same medication, without it my summers would be a misery, however I would still get the sneezes even if it is`nt sunny.
Advice from others
When I was younger I did`nt know much about hayfever, well I still dont really but I have listened to advice from different people, like avoiding animal hair, changing clothes after being out, washing my hair after being out and keeping the windows closed when the sun is really strong another one is wearing sunglasses. These tips do help me especially when my hayfever is really bad.
Thanks for reading
Summary: Hayfever is like having a cold constantly, as well as the itchy eyes
