I can't believe this topic is here on dooyoo! I myself am hypoglycaemic and know personally only one other person who also is. I first had problems at 18 when I left home. Living alone with not much money coming in and being a reluctant and atrocious cook soon found me eating alot less than I was used to and not as healthily. Within weeks I found I was having "funny turns" where I would shake, sweat, slur my words, have a banging headache and feel out of breath and sick. I have suffered from hypoglycaemia for the past 14 years and have developed manys self help strategies. Hypoglycaemia or low blood sugar level can affect many people and apparantly has not got any indication of diabetes in later life. I am of slim build and do not have any fat reserves to fall back on when my blood sugars get low. Any brown fat is usually converted back from fat to sugars by the body so extra energy can be provided when needed. This is not done as much with hypoglycaemia and so the blood sugar content reaches a very low point causing some frightening and potentially dangerous symptoms.
