MY STORY I have suffered from insomnia for years, but when, under a lot of pressure at work, it got 10 times worse. I wasn’t eating properly, no proper exercise, as I never had time, and of course no proper rest or even relaxation. All this accumulated, and I started feeling constantly brain dead, and it has taken me a long time to get back to ‘normality! I still do suffer insomnia, but at least now I work my own hours at home, therefore not so stressed at having to get up for work. So any really BAD nights now, I can cope better with, and try and just take it easy the following day! WHAT IS ... Read the complete review

Without a doubt, one of the most annoying, stressful and debalitating conditions around. It interferes with your mood, your sex life, your work life, your sociability. A few months ago, I had a four month period where I was sleeping so badly that for nights on end I didn't sleep at all. People don't believe you when you say that - but I remember seeing the red digits on the alarm clock clicking by and by. This period was linked to a wider depressive illness that I was suffering from - but insomnia, I am convinced, remains a key contributor to my overall condition. I was doing everything wrong - high-pressured job which took over my life. Using ... Read the complete review

I can’t remember the last time I had a full, refreshing night’s sleep. I’m writing this at work, it’s early aftenoon and I’ve been yawning uncontrollably since before lunchtime. My eyes feel heavy, my head feels light, and my body is crying out for a nap. Last night was one of the worst I’ve had. We toddled off to bed at 10:15 (a little later than usual but not really out of pattern), read for ½ an hour, then switched off and snuggled down. Mr Moomin was asleep in minutes, but not me. I lay awake, tossing and turning, for about 5 hours, finally drifting off into an uneasy slumber at past 3.30am. It’s not as if ... Read the complete review

Pale in complexion, a creature of the night, I lurk in the shadows of the opinion sites seeking an answer to the age-old question "how the hell can I get a decent nights sleep?" If you are like me and find it virtually impossible to fall asleep at night, every night, no matter what you try, then you probably suffer from insomnia. There are many causes and supposed remedies, I will move on to these in a minute. From my early teens I have had trouble sleeping at night. I have always had that feeling that I should be doing something more productive than sleeping with my time and find it hard to "switch off" at night. As my exams approached ... OK, something non-controversial for opinion number 100, but since this is a category where not only have I HAD experience, but one where I still suffer, from time to time and which i have found a means of over-coming it.. Yes, guys 'n gals' I have 'insomniaced' for both Wales and now (since having a sporran transplant in 1981) for Scotland too. What generally causes it for me is a mixture of stress and occasional bouts of depression. This is also not helped by the fact that I work so much better when completely undisturbed, which is explained below. ~~~~~~~ In my yoof, when studying at school and at University, I ...
