I won't lose any sleep about it if you decide not to take my advice, not any more anyway............... Well l suffered for many years with insomnia, that would be why l am writing this at 1.20 am. I do not have it regularly anymore but tonight is one of those nights. I have layed in bed since 10 o'clock 'ish, wriggled about, pulled the covers off my husband as he was snoring just to let me know he was asleep and l wasn't, got up and made a milky drink, read, got up and taken a headache tablet (that'd be the snoring) and finally come downstairs to do some reading on dooyoo. My problems first started when l was pregnant (12 years ago). For the first trimester l could not sleep at all. I found that after the first 3/4 months my sleeping pattern returned to normal. The same thing happened with my subsequent pregnancy. After that l started to have 'night terrors', where l would wake up in the night, suddenly, screaming that there was someone or something in the room. No, l am not going potty. After about 10 minutes of calming reassurance from my husband l would be able to go back to sleep. But they did worry me and aparantly are not an uncommon occurance. So l went to the G.P. Since then l have been perscribed different sleeping pills from the doctor, one he gave me was Zimovane and it was so strong that instead of the two per night he suggested l wittled to down to 1/2 a tablet and that knocked me out completely. They left an awful metalic taste in my mouth the next day and I don't like being on pills so would wean myself off after a few weeks. I decided l would try a herbal remedy and found Nytol very good. But still, l was taking a pill every night just to get some sleep. There had to be another answer. One bright day l had a brainwave, l wonder what would happen if l cut out caffiene. No coca cola and I only drink about 2 cups of tea a day but hey, nothing vent
ured and all that. So l bought some decaffienated tea. I have not, until tonight, had any trouble sleeping. My head hits the pillow and l sleep all night long. Its brilliant. I know why l can't sleep as l was out today and had two cups of 'normal' caffienated tea. Thats proof enough for me, as l sit here at 1.37am. It may work for you who, like me, have inconsiderate partners that sleep soundly alongside you when you are having an insomniatic bout. I found Typhoo decaffienated tea (l have tried every brand on the market) the best and gave it to relations and thay couldn't taste any difference to 'normal' tea. Give it a try, what have you got to lose.

- 13/06/02 I have suffered from insomnia since childhood. I cut out tea once for two months and still my sleep go no better (in fact worse, as all I wanted was a lovely cup of tea!). I've had zimovane and even two didn't touch me! I've tried Nytol and other similar products and the best seems to be Nytol One-a-night, that at least gives me a couple of hours. Good op, sleep tight!
