Do you happen to check whether your alarm clock is set even though you know for sure that it is? Do you hoard items which should have landed in the dustbin a long time ago just in case 'they might come in handy' one day or because they have 'sentimental value?' Or maybe you tend to maniacally avoid touching doorknobs in public lavatories because 'they are so dirty?' Have you ever been told that you are too pedantic when you insist on alphabetising the CD collection at a friend's home? If your answers to these questions are 'yes', take a closer look at your behaviour, for you may either be a perfectly normal person, or you may ... Read the complete review

Mary didn't have a job outside the home, but, in the 1950's and 60's that wasn't unusual. Mary saw her 'job' as looking after her home and husband, and later, her only child. Mary lived in a small bungalow yet keeping it clean took all day. She was houseproud, but again, that was not unusual. The thing that struck it home to me most recently was when a couple of years ago, my mum showed me a photo of myself when I was about 7 years old. I was having a picnic on the grass with some other children and I was the only child ... Read the complete review

Exploit my pain and suck my life dry. Go ahead, you should feel privileged that I'm granting you permission to laugh yourselves mad at my problems. Everyone else does it, and until last night I always took it as a personal affront. But I'm not saying that I've come to terms with my psychological vices and reached some sort of higher level of understanding. It's just that, over dinner with some friends, we all got a bit introspective and had a kind of unofficial support session. We bared our darkest, most private mental recesses to one another, almost seeking empathy. As it turns out, the only time that I actually reveal my internal ... Read the complete review
