Full review -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A Personal account on Social Anxiety Disorder/Social Phobia As a Social Anxiety Disorder sufferer I decided to write this to try and help others also suffering with the disorder, by sharing my stories of living and coping with the condition. For those who are not familiar with the disorder, it is actually seen as one of the more common anxiety disorders. It is the 3rd largest mental health care problem in the world today. The anxiety felt is much stronger than most non-phobic people experience and it generally happens in social or ... Read the complete review

I started physiotherapy on my knees this week. Unfortunately for me, I encountered one of the least compassionate members of the NHS. Not only was he unsmiling and humourless, he was also patronising and condescending. He told me I needed to do some general exercise besides the specific ones I had been given to do, to strengthen my knees. One of the options he seemed to particularly favour was the idea of me joining a gym. I told him I had depression and joining a gym was really not an option. His reply was simply to tell me that exercise has been proven to improve depression. He didn’t understand. But who would? I live just five houses ... Read the complete review

Hi everyone, I have decided to talk openly about my experience with Agoraphobia as I have just unfortunately suffered a relapse after being clear of the illness for around 4yrs. I am a 21yr old male from Scotland and I first started suffering attacks around 7yrs ago during the school christmas holidays. I remember I had the flu one weekend during that time as I was meant to be at the football !. Anyway When school was due to go back I managed to get myself ready to go and I was looking forward to seeing my friends again but for some reason when I approached the door I felt physically ill. Not knowing about agoraphobia at the time I just assumed I must ... Read the complete review

You get out of your car after a long hard day's work and rush gratefully to your door. You put the key in, open it, step inside, then WHOOOOSH! Suddenly you're halfway down the street! Yes, it's happened again. Your home has been invaded by an evil eight-legged monster (doesn't matter that it's the size of a 50p and more terrified than you!). Arachnophobia, the fear of spiders, is one of the most common specific phobias. Many 'normal' people have it - young and old, male and female. It is extremely infectious. The main cause of arachnophobia is a combination of conditioning and something known as ... Read the complete review

Wow, a whole new section that no one has written in before - always a fun thing to find. So Phobias then..... Phobias are strange beasties, and I have a sizeable set of them (fear of fire, claustrophobia, and I get panic attacks if anyone touches my neck! As a child I was afraid of topless men and men with beards, but I'm over that now.)I haven't the faintest idea where any of my phobias come from, which makes them all the more perplexing and harder to control - I've always felt that if I could pin down a source, then there would be a good chance that I could sort it out. So far I've had no luck on that score. My fear of fire is rather strange, ... Read the complete review
