I am continually trying to grow my nails, I've currently got short, badly bitten nails - they're not as bad as they used to be, but as a secretary I find that if my nails are too long they irritate me when I'm typing so I bite them all off and end up back at square one. In order to give myself an incentive to try not to bite my nails I decided to invest in a nice festive coloured nail polish in the hope that by Christmas I might have tidy, well presented, medium length nails. The nail polish I purchased is an Avon brand polish which comes from the Nailwear 2 range. Avon describe the Nailwear 2 range of polishes as having a ... Read the complete review

I finally stopped biting my nails at the age of twelve. My Mum always had beautiful and well-manicured nails and I longed to be able to be proud of my nails and paint them with all the latest colours just like she did. It took a good few months to get my nails to a state where they weren’t splitting or breaking off. A good tip I used was to cut my nails straight across and just round off the sharp edges. I did this as soon as my nails showed any growth, and within a few months believe it or not my nails became so strong that I struggled to cut them with nail clippers! I was as pleased as a dog with two tails when I eventually had those gorgeous ... Read the complete review

I've been reading a few opinions on Dooyoo about nail varnish, and I've come to the conclusion that when writing about one nail varnish at a time there really isn't that much to write. So, I've decided to review 8 of my nail varnishes in one opinion, so I can compare them and conclude which is the best! Sooo here we go... L'Oreal Paris 'Strip Tease' peel-off nail varnish ----------------------------------------------------- This comes in a 7ml bottle. I bought mine whilst on holiday in France just out of curiousity, but I remember that it was more than I would normally spend on a nail varnish. The one I got was number ... Read the complete review

Whilst I have always enjoyed nail varnish occasionally over the years, my big obsession only started around the millennium. It all began when I decided to treat myself to a bottle of silver nail polish; I searched Boots and Superdrug, trying a different shade of silver on each nail until I started to resemble a character from Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Finally I found one that closely matched the colour of cooking foil … perfect! I loved the look of it on my nails; it made me feel special and Christmassy, like a fairy on a tree. It glinted and sparkled and shone in the party lights. I waved my hands a lot more when I talked; I took every ... Read the complete review

I tend to write opinions that I think will appeal to both male and female readers, however every time I apply L'Oreal Jet Set nail varnish I realise that I must break with tradition because it is so good. That doesn't mean that the male readers among you won't learn anything from this opinion; indeed, I bet the ladies in your lives wouldn't mind receiving a bottle as a small gift or stocking filler...so read on. I have been using Jet Set for over three years and now I won't wear any other. It costs around £4.99 which is middle priced. It is exceptionally easy to apply and dries in 60 seconds. For most occasions, one coat will do, although if you are ... Read the complete review
