Opticians in generalNewest Review: ... on the side of the nose fell off after I'd worn their spectacles just a couple of times. I wrote to the firm a couple of times; they didn't reply. I decided I'd carry on wearing the glasses - as a spare pair. After a dozen outings the screw that holds the frame together came out, and the lens dropped out. At that point I gave up. They apparently couldn't be bothered to reply to my e-mails, but they have since spammed me to buy more of their junk - despite being asked not to. I've since bought spectacles from other online opticians (spex4less) in November 2008, and was pleased with the service, quality of the product, and the fact tha... more |

I recently needed a new pair of varifocals, they had to be right as my lenses were going to be expensive because of my prescription. I had great service at Optique in Southampton, first class care, the staff all lovely and helpful.
If you like personal service then this is the place to go, at no time did i feel rushed or under any pressure. I have been back on a couple of occasions for minor adjustments to my glasses, once again great service.
Well done to this branch in 48 Commercial Road,

Tried Your Online Optician - was hesitant at first to use an online optician but was very happy. Saved myself a lot of money - was also able to discuss my prescription with the dispensing optician. Would recommend www.youronlineoptician.com anyday.

Black and Lizars Overall impression is that their only interest is to get the maximum amount of money out of you with no particular interest in your long-term custom. Had a very similar experience to the above reviewer. I stated several times that i wasn't looking for a designer pair of glasses; as this was my first pair and they would only be used for reading, not for day in-day out use, I only wanted something functional that didn't look too awful. However despite this and my (then) ignorance as to what is available and at what cost, I was shown nothing but designer brands, eventually settling on a £60 pair. This was fine, however. £60 i ... I am very short sighted, and was worried that my eyesight was getting worse. It has in the past cost a lot of money to get new lenses, so I tend not to go to the optician very much. I searched for an optician in London and found one near to where I live, The Kings Cross Eye Clinic. It is a very modern place with all the latest equipment and everything the optician did, he explained to me...I learnt more about my eyes during that eye test than ever before! I especially found the digital photos at the back of the eye most interesting. I needed new glasses, so I chose a new frame from the massive range (I tried almost everything on in the shop!) and ...
