I have worn glasses for some twenty years or so and have had my eyes checked and glasses made at first from a business in Leeds and for the last (and I mean LAST) test by Specsavers in Bradford.
I had a sight test and it was on special offer (buy one get one free) I decided on a pair from the display.
I was given a price for the first pair and had to pick them up and have them fitted some time later.
I did and was presented with a huge bill. When I questioned it I was told the free bit did not include the extra work due to astigmatism and was only for standard lens, also I had to pay for the reactolite and so on.
I moaned a little but nevertheless paid.
A week later the glasses chipped at the edge near the frame, so I returned.
I explained to the young (obviously inexperienced) man attending to me that they had simply chipped while I was wearing them and showed him the damage.
He looked and asked "What do you expect me to do about it"?
When I said replace them he refused telling me it wasn't their fault.
No word of sympathy or anything.
I noticed an old lady who was also having some kind of problem and the attendant dealing with her took her glasses to colleagues who between them had a good laugh pointing at her behind her back.
I walked out.
My wife bought a pair there also and, on collection, was given the glasses, told to put them on, told they looked ok and that was that. No question of fitting or checking at all.
They were terrible marking her bridge, so she went back to have them adjusted, and again, and again until she gave up.
I can now see clearly that I need to change opticians, and I will
