Online opticians - avoid Speckyfoureyes (Opticians in general)

Advantages: Cheap

Disadvantages: Cheap product, no customer service, spammers

Speckfoureyes: Give 'em a miss: poor product, customer service non-existent - and once they've got your e-mail address, they spam you.

The plastic bit that sits on the side of the nose fell off after I'd worn their spectacles just a couple of times.

I wrote to the firm a couple of times; they didn't reply.

I decided I'd carry on wearing the glasses - as a spare pair. After a dozen outings the screw that holds the frame together came out, and the lens dropped out. At that point I gave up.

They apparently couldn't be bothered to reply to my e-mails, but they have since spammed me to buy more of their junk - despite being asked not to. I've since bought spectacles from other online opticians (spex4less) in November 2008, and was pleased with the service, quality of the product, and the fact that they give a year's guarantee.

I'd give Speckyfoureyes a minus number of stars if I could.

Summary: Buying glasses online can work - but you need to pick the right supplier.
