I recently needed a new pair of varifocals, they had to be right as my lenses were going to be expensive because of my prescription. I had great service at Optique in Southampton, first class care, the staff all lovely and helpful.
If you like personal service then this is the place to go, at no time did i feel rushed or under any pressure. I have been back on a couple of occasions for minor adjustments to my glasses, once again great service.
Well done to this branch in 48 Commercial Road,
Southampton, SO15 1GD

Tried Your Online Optician - was hesitant at first to use an online optician but was very happy. Saved myself a lot of money - was also able to discuss my prescription with the dispensing optician. Would recommend www.youronlineoptician.com anyday.

Speckfoureyes: Give 'em a miss: poor product, customer service non-existent - and once they've got your e-mail address, they spam you. The plastic bit that sits on the side of the nose fell off after I'd worn their spectacles just a couple of times. I wrote to the firm a couple of times; they didn't reply. I ... Black and Lizars Overall impression is that their only interest is to get the maximum amount of money out of you with no particular interest in your long-term custom. Had a very similar experience to the above reviewer. I stated several times that i wasn't looking for a designer pair of glasses; as this was my first pair and they ... Read the complete review

I am very short sighted, and was worried that my eyesight was getting worse. It has in the past cost a lot of money to get new lenses, so I tend not to go to the optician very much. I searched for an optician in London and found one near to where I live, The Kings Cross Eye Clinic. It is a very modern place with all the latest ... Read the complete review

I have bad eyesight. Astigmatism in both eyes, and short-sightedness - quite badly in one eye. I have an annoyingly thick glasses lens and have grown used to paying rather large optician's bills. The system to get glasses help in the UK is unfortunately set up rather badly. If you work with computers, and need glasses just to do so then ... Read the complete review

My family had no history of eye problems and so we didn't consider attending an opticians until I was about 14 and my eyesight started to deteriorate. I was having trouble reading the board in class and eventually I realised that I needed glasses. I booked an appointment with Black and Lizars mainly because there was one close to where ... Review on SpecSavers For the past few years, I have noticed that my eyesight has got steadily worse – I was not able to read any writing on blackboards or see small text on the TV screen – to be honest, I put going to an optician off – just like a lot of people would a dentist or a doctor appointment. One day, I just thought to myself ... Read the complete review

Background: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I didn't wear glasses until today... As far as I was concerned I didn't need glasses... I'd done fine without them. I'm 25, so surely too young to be affected because of my age, and surely if I needed glasses I'd have known before now?? Obviously not. I commented a couple of weeks ago ... Read the complete review

I have worn glasses for some twenty years or so and have had my eyes checked and glasses made at first from a business in Leeds and for the last (and I mean LAST) test by Specsavers in Bradford. I had a sight test and it was on special offer (buy one get one free) I decided on a pair from the display. I was given a price for the first ... Read the complete review

^^^ Vision Express ^^^ Around this time last year, acutely aware that soon I would be graduating, earning some money and no longer be eligible for free eye tests / discounted glassed on the NHS, I thought I would make the most of it, and get my eyes checked. The test, at my local D&A branch showed my eyes had worsened slightly, and ... Read the complete review

A squint with the left eye, squint with the right, peer a little closer and still cant read the answers for "who wants to be a millionaire" properly and this is when it is time to go and get your eyes tested! I recently had the misfortune to need to get my eyes tested. I say misfortune because the experience that I had in opticians that I had previously considered professional was abysmal. I had to go during my week off from work, which meant that I was on my own. Normally I like to have a friend with me because I am useless at choosing ... Read the complete review

If you use a VDU screen at work, you may be able to reclaim the cost of the eye-test from your employers. Let me explain. Do you like me put of that eyetest on the grounds of time or cost? It could be a huge mistake. Having your eyes tested on a regular basis not only ensures that you vision is the best it can be, but also can save yor sight. While working in the health professions myself, I know at first hand the wonderful service that the majority of optometrists provide. I often hear criticism, some of which is justified and some which is not. However I strongly feel that most gripes are due to a lack of communication between patient and practitioner. This is perhaps most evident ... Read the complete review
