Advantages: Smells great, Moisturises

Disadvantages: None at all

On a recent shopping trip to Tesco's I spotted an Original Source product that I had never seen before. I didn't think there were any I hadn't tried!

This one is Original Source Almond and Orange Moisturising Body Wash and Dave treated me to some. From memory I think it cost somewhere between £3 and £4. The other fragrance available was Honey and Lemon but I didn't like the smell of that one anywhere near as much as the Almond and Orange.

As you must all know by now I am a big fan of most of the Original Source range of toiletries and this one is no exception.

It smells particularly good with the orange being the stronger of the two fragrances with just a light hint of the almond. This impressed me as I thought being almond I might end up smelling like a freshly marzipanned cake!

It comes in a plastic semi transparent bottle which looks classy in my bathroom and does actually match the décor but that was just luck! You are advised to store it upside down when you have used more than half the contents so that the remaining body wash will be easier to get at.

The writing on the bottle says that it is 'naturally moisturising and revitalising' and I have to agree with that. The body wash itself is very thick and creamy and the citrus fragrance is definitely enough to wake you up!

The next bit of writing announces '80 uses with a puff'. Well there's no answer to that is there! Seriously I have now used mine, with my bath puff, about half a dozen times and the level hasn't gone down much at all. I don't think I will get 80 uses out of it but then I tend to be a bit heavy handed with this sort of thing. I could use a lot less and still get the same effect.

It offers 'all day moisturising and the softest, silkiest skin you've ever had'. That may be exaggerating a bit but I have to say that my skin does feel very soft and smooth and not as dry as it usually
is.

As always with the Original Source products the writing on the back of the bottle is extremely small and I needed a magnifying glass to read it! It was worth a look though as it gives some interesting details of the history of Original Source.

The inspiration for the manufacture of the products was apparently taken from the bush remedies of someone called Ellen Wakeman who was the daughter of missionaries living in New South Wales. She had run away from home to join the goldrush of 1857 and somehow ended up as a barber's assistant.

She began to learn of the healing powers of the plants native to the outback and subsequently became famous for her herbal cures.

The Original Source range of today still uses some of the ingredients discovered by Ellen Wakeman. The products all contain natural oils rather than synthetic fragrances and are not tested on animals. In fact one of their advertising slogans is 'it's the essential oils that make the difference'.

I won't go into all the ingredients here as they are definitely too numerous to mention. If you're that interested you'll have to go and read the back of the bottle.

By the way if you visit the Original Source website at www.originalsource.co.uk there are some free samples of some of their products for you to request.
