... fresh fruit piled in a bowl in a warm room. The shampoo is quite thick and a glorious colour, a bright transparent orange gel. It didn't take much to lather up nicely and the smell was lovely. Not a sharp acidic orange and not the equally awful artificial sickly-sweet orange I've met in cheaper bathroom products. This one has a warm orange scent that's gently sweet yet very "real orange". The closest I can come to in comparison scent-wise is my sister-in-law's home made marmalade. Not too swee...more

In my never-ending quest to become grooming guru I present… Original source mint and tea tree shampoo. Original source make a whole range of grooming products, from shampoos to shaving gels, but the one thing they have in common is the fact they all contain essential oils. Originally I thought it was an excuse to get a pun in, Mint Source, Orange Source etc. op writers would be cursing them for pinching their titular puns, but they have advanced since then and diversified the range of oils to lime, tea tree and a whole lot more. There is more to this company than mere product punnery though they have an ethos, its always nice to have an ethos, ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tape this one under your hat... (660 words)

Paddington Bear always taped a marmalade sandwich into his hat before setting out on his travels and adventures, in case of emergency. I'd say that this shampoo would be equally useful on any trip or adventure and highly recommend taping a small bottle into your travel hat next time you set of for darkest Peru or that weekend in the country. I suffer from perfume allergies. The problem is that it takes body warmth to bring out the allergic reaction in me. This means I have to use and wear a product before I can tell if I?m allergic to it. I can?t tell just by opening the bottle and sniffing it in the shop. Original Source offers free samples and that's ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Original Source Haircare Products in general: Resistance is Futile ... (1176 words)

The brown jiffy bag dropped onto the mat. This was the one I had been dreading. Each previous jiffy bag had been greeted with boundless glee – well, as boundless as you can get at 7am! This time, I approached the package with caution and took a deep breath before opening. It even looked evil – bright green, shiny and with bold black lettering. This was a cocky little sod and no mistake. This did not look like ordinary shampoo. That’s because it isn’t ordinary shampoo. This is a couple of packets of extra strong mints liquidised and squeezed with malicious intent into a 25ml sachet, which – and this is the clever bit – they ...  Read the complete review

In my long quest to find that ‘perfect’ shampoo I have used many different products and brands. The most recent one that I have tried was Original Orange Source – Orange and Tea Tree for dry/damaged hair. I don’t actually have dry or damaged hair but I’m so desperate to find a shampoo that really works for me that I’ll try anything once. It cost £2.99 for a 300ml bottle from Tesco. The Bottle: As shampoo bottles go this shampoo isn’t really very inspiring. It's an average sized, clear bottle with a black lid. However when you first see it on the shelf it is very striking as the shampoo is bright orange – very ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Original Source Haircare Products in general: Now the conditioner! (522 words)

I apologise in advance that this opinion is going to be very similar in nature to the updated opinion on Original Source Orange and Grapefruit shampoo. I felt justified in submitting it as it is a totally different product as it may well be accessed by people looking for advice specifically about conditioners as opposed to shampoos. I love the majority of the Original Source range of toiletries, with the exception of the ones with a very strong smell such as the Lime and the Eucalyptus. Orange and Grapefruit is one of my favourite fragrances of the whole range and I use the shampoo, for normal hair and frequent use, and follow it with the conditioner ...  Read the complete review
