Advantages: cleans hair, keeps head lice away!

Disadvantages: smell may be too strong for some people

The whole range of Original Source products is known for their unusual smells. I actually got this product as part of a ‘buy one get one free’ offer.

According to ‘the blurb’ on the back of the bottle the range of products were discovered in 1857 by a barber’s apprentice who discovered the healing and soothing power of plants. She certainly must have had a keen sense of smell as you are hit by an extremely strong and fresh smell on opening the bottle. I find it a refreshing smell but of course it may not be to everyone’s liking and stay well clear of this product if you are at all adverse to the smell of mint.

Both my husband and I have found that it can occasionally leave the scalp feeling ‘tingly’, so if anyone was using it who has sensitive skin, I would advise using testing on your inner forearm before use. . According to the bottle this is a sign that the hair follicles are being stimulated (I kid you not!).

This particular product is meant to give hair extra body, whatever that means! I must say that I’ve never particularly noticed extra body after using it, maybe I’m too overcome by the smell to notice.

On a more delicate note the smell is, apparently, excellent for warding off head lice. So when my daughter comes home with the dreaded letter from school informing us that a child in the school has head lice, out comes the shampoo and, fingers crossed, it’s done the job so far!
