Advantages: making the world a better place
Disadvantages: for those with no hope there is no hope!!
My friend introduced me to first dooyoo & then tooyoo. At first I thought the sites would be a load of over opiniated people like me but how wrong I was - You all seem to be really friendly & most of us have some idea of what we are basing our opinions on! When I heard that Jill Murphy had requested people write an opinion on there favourite things to celebrate four years of cancer free living I really wanted to join in & give something (even if only another opinion) to this little internet community i feel a part of. I read through a number of favourite opinions trying to decide what really is my favourite thing. I love my music as i do my television & I dont think I could remember how to exist without my baby smiling at me every day but none of that really felt like my favourite thing, there are days when I cant be bothered to put the stereo on, there are days when I cant get in to watching telly & there are definatly days when I need a break from being a parent as I'm sure every parent does. Then it hit me there is something in this world that no matter what kind of a mood i'm in there is one thing I have always got time for HOPE. We live in a strange world. a very scary world & even a sick world. On the front of the newspaper this morning it reports on the number of victims Harold Shipman so heartlessly injected with a fatal dose of morphine. My friend has rung me this morning to say cancer has now found its way into her Dad's lungs & I have also spoke to a friend of mine who at the age of 27 has lost both her parents to cancer. Where the hell is the hope in that lot? There is always hope, I heard about Jill Murphy & I'm afraid to say it made my eyes fill up, here is this woman that faced the biggest battle in her life & she overcome it now thats hope. My friend who has lost both her parents to cancer has just finished her first year at college & although her attendance record may have not been the best mainly owing to
her Dad's illness & her need to be with him she has still finished the course with a distinction. These little stories of hope mean the world to me. It should prove to us all that we can all achieve our dream if we work hard enough & we should want to work hard enough just to prove to this world that whatever tragedy it may be dealing with at the moment we as individuals are still strong we can still fight to get what we truly want. As advanced as this world may get in the future with cures for disease & even maybe famine we all know there will never be a cure for murder these evil people are born in to our world & it is up to us as a community to stand united against them maybe then this world will be a safe place for our children, grandchildren & even great grandchildren to grow up in. Hope is very important to me & I am sure all of you reading this will have some hopes & dreams if you have hold on to the hope & do everything in your power to achieve your dreams. Jill Murphy asked me to write about one of my favourite things to help her celebrate her fourth anniversary of cancer-free living and to remind ourselves of all the nice things in the world. It takes more muscles to make a frown than a smile you know. If you'd like to join in, whether you've only just joined dooyoo, or you've been here ages, you're more than welcome. Just write about one of YOUR favourite things, make your title "A Favourite Thing: [your choice]" and include this paragraph at the foot of your opinion. And post before Friday, 9th August."
