Advantages: Great accessory, very fashionable, can set of any outfit, you don't have to be a waif to wear one!!

Disadvantages: Sometimes can be too much and eclipse a nice outfit (less can be more!!), can be expensive so you have to shop around.

Belly chains are making a big impession on the catwalk and high street at the moment and look set to continue right the way through the autumn, so are these a look for you??

I have seen many celebrities wearing these and as ever they always look great, Cat Deely and Victoria Beckham both seem to be big fans. I was so sceptical that they would not suit someone with curves thinking that you had to be stick thin to get away with this latest accessory. However, always one to give things a go I went down to my local Top Shop, which is always good for cheaply keeping up with trends and I tried on a thin diamante chain and it was so flattering that I have since become a big fan! Having now quite a collection I have a number of tips when considering whether to wear a belly chain and what type to buy.

1. Belly chains come in so many styles that the choice can be baffling. I would advise girls with fuller/ curvier figures to opt for the simple single row chains. I always think that keeping it simple and understated often can really set of an outfit more so than having an all singing and dancing chain that completely eclipses the outfit.

2. The chains can be altered according to how tight you want them, this is personal choice, but don't have them too tight or too loose would be my advice as both can be quite unflattering to anyone!

3. Lots of shops are stocking belly chains. Top shop tend to stock theres in at around £10 for the single diamante chain. Oasis however have similar designs in for £25, which seems a lot to be and on examination I really could not see any difference. Oasis do however do some even more expensive styles which are more unusual and I think that are a more worth while investment. Hennes the place to always find a good bargain have nice chains with little flowers and symbols hanging off the chain for £1.50, ok they will not last forever, and mine got a bit tarnished after a couple of wears, but I think for £1.
50 it wouldn't really matter if you didn't wear it more than a few times. Most high street and exclusive stores will be stocking these, so look around and there are some good deals to be had. I would suggest "belly chain virgins" try Top Shop though as they are cheap enough to try and discard if they really are not your thing!

Belly chains may not be to everyones taste, but there is little denying that they can set of many outfits and be flattering for the non waifs amongst us if worn with care!

Fab op.I ADORE belly chains, I always wear one. I bought a double chained one from TopShop £12, great buy. It's kinda arabic looking. All shops sell them now, how mainstream. I think they are girl and feminine, spesh in that summer heat teamed with a cut off top :-))

I think they look great but you need to shop around as there are some great bargains out there.
