Advantages: rough, but not too rough

Disadvantages: slightly costly..., but price varies between shops

Lava - Heavy duty hand cleaner. For use after painting and decorating, or working on the car or in the garden.
This handy product is from the makers of the famous WD-40, and I am pleased with the results.

The paste-like green "gel" smells very pleasant and clean and the tiny little particles of ground pumice stone really clean your skin (I assume that's where the name lava comes from. I think pumice is volcanic).

I think it is ideal for getting earth from your hands, after gardening - we know how stubborn that is sometimes. I have also used it to get paint off my hands, but you really have to scrub the areas to do that. Make sure your hands are dry, or almost dry, before applying. The cleaner will rinse off easily after use.

The product has the added bonus of moisturisers, and I did feel that they worked. On some hand cleaners, especially the soaps, I don't get the feeling that the moisturisers work but Lava will leave your hands thoroughly cleansed, exfoliated(!), and slightly moisturised.

Maybe it's just the soil in this area, but it seems to stain my nails and seep into my skin somehow!
:) and good luck with it Sue

I'm going to have to try something like this. My hands permanently look as though I've been gardening without using any tools! Sue :O}

Sounds OK, though I find soap and water gets earth of my hands pretty easily! Kay
