Advantages: Unusual flavours, Cheap and cheerful, Lasts ages
Disadvantages: You'll end up wanting them all!, Only sell them in selected Asdas and Superdrug
Ok this little story started on a trip to Florida in '96. I've always had one of those bizarre freaky obsessions with all things different in foreign countries, so I was amazed by their drugstore lip balm range by Lipsmakers. I'd never seen so many different, and unusual flavours...cherry cola, Jelly Bean, Bubblegum...they sounded so inviting that I had to buy one to try...my all time favourite...yes indeedy..DR PEPPER! It smelt just like the real thing, gave my lips a slight tint, and it tasted nice too! When i was at college, to my complete misfortune, my beloved Dr Pepper lip balm finally ran out...I was devasted, because there was no way I could get another one! I had used it practically every day for a year or so! Anyway...I was totally ecstatic when I found out that superdrug had started to sell the same range..new from the States! YES! Unfortunately they didn't have my lovely Dr Pepper flavour, so I chose (quite) a few others as an attempt to replace it and I was not disappointed! If you're looking for something a bit different, there are flavours such as chocolate, bubblegum, watermelon, Jelly bean, Cotton Candy, Strawberry-banana....or how about a bit of frosting? I have a gorgeous marchmellow flavoured one that leaves a nice silver frosting on my lips and smells delicious I think they are about £1.20 each....but then they introduced more! There are some which they include as part of their "Gem" range which have multi-coloured glitter in them. I have a peaches and cream flavoured one. These look really pretty on and last quite a while which is surprising for something that's relatively inexpensive! I have to say my boyfriend hates lip balm..particularly sparkly ones..as he ends up sparkly too...nothing wrong with blokes wearing lip balm! But if you think that's about all..keep reading!..there's even more to this amazing range! They a
lso do lipglosses called Lipshakes...forget the other flavours within this range...the flavour you HAVE to try is "Mocha fudge". It has a sponge applicator so you can apply it with ease..and it's a shimmery brown colour. This smells totally amazing. A definite must try..a lot of my friends have also been tempted to buy one after nabbing a bit of mine! These Lipshakes are a bit more expensive..I can't remember..but have a look in your local superdrug..or asdas, I'm sure you won't be able to resist! One bad thing though..the lipshake didn't last too long..cost I ended up licking it off! It's more of a glossy lippy so it didn't really conditon my lips like the lipsmacker lip balms do either...so there you go...try for yourselves and thanks for reading if you got this far!

- 10/08/02 I live in Canada where they sell the entire range of Bonne Bell Lipsmakers. I own over 50 of their lip balm/gloss products.
Next time you're on this side of the Atlantic, give the new 'Lip Gear' lip glosses a try. They come in clear tubes, have little red bubbles of Vitamin E and they leave the most amazing sheen on your lips. They're fabulous. |

- 08/07/02 We sell these where I work. Including the yummy, scrummy Dr. Pepper and the Lipshakes. I have to admit, I've never tried them as I'm a blistex girl. But they look good. :) Great op |
