Advantages: Sexy, shiny lips, without a disgusting taste, to bring the boys running!

Disadvantages: Some men may not like the stickiness, but that's their loss!, So get snogging and have a great Christmas. xxxx

I love kissing, especially at Christmas as the mistletoe is a good excuse to get lippy with all sorts of people (although not Aunt Hilda with her wrinkled lips I'm afraid). So naturally, I want my lips to look gorgeous and luscious.

Yesterday, whilst I was doing some Christmas shopping I noticed that in Boots there is a special offer on selected brands of make up, including Boots 17, whereby if you spend £15 on make up, you get a rather nice silver jewellery set. The jewellery set is a necklace with a diamante stone and ear-rings in the same style, simple and classy. So I thought I would treat myself and buy some decent make up for once instead of the cheap rubbish I usually get.

17 make up appears to be aimed at young women (well, maybe it's aimed at young men too, I don't want to be sexist), with a wide choice of bright colours and fun, glittery products. With £15 to spend, one of the items I chose was the Plump Up The Volume Lip Shine in crystal, otherwise known as clear. They do several shades of red and brown as well as the see-through gloss that I bought. I have used lip gloss before (Collection 2000) and like the way it looks but find it dries my lips out and have had complaints about the taste. So lets see how 17 fares to the kissing test.....

My boyfriend and I just erm, tested it out (what a sad way to spend our evenings! But then we are skint!) and he says it is a bit sticky, but tastes of nothing and is a definite improvement on some of the c**p I stick on my lips. So it has the boyfriend seal of approval. Winner!

As for looks, with the gloss on my lips look well-glossy (duh), shiny, big and pouty. I imagine if you had large lips (Angelina Jolie-style) you don't really want them to look any bigger but for those of us with less well endowed features, any enhancement is more than welcome.

It cost me £3.20 for an 8 ml tube which in my opinion is expensive compared to other brands but I have
found lip gloss tubes to last for a long time as you only need to use a small amount.

The tube comes with a soft wand which makes it easy to apply the gloss, although I don't know how hygenic this is, especially regarding sharing the gloss with your friends-my advice is keep your make up to yourself. The packaging is simple-a clear tube with a black lid, and is small enough to pop in a pocket (or your knickers if you have no pockets) for a night out. It looks quite classy and I would certainly not be ashamed to whip it out in public, although maybe if I was at a *really* classy do it might look out of place next to Clinique. But then I never get invited to classy do's, so that's not really a problem for me :-(

The claim on the back of the tube is
"long lasting lip gloss. Makes your lips look fuller and more kissable. Fragrance free and dermatologically tested". Let me put their claims to the test!

"Long-lasting"-
It is more so than other, cheaper brands, but lip gloss in itself is not especially long lasting as it tends to rub off on glasses, men and food!

"Makes your lips look fuller"
Yes, definitely. My lips look lush, who needs collagen when you have cheap (ish) make up?

"More kissable"
That's debatable-if you are Atilla the Hun, no amount of make up will make you attractive, but it can certainly help. I like to think (modestly) that I look quite kissable with or without lip gloss, but I do feel sexier wearing gloss, and I am more prone to pout and flirt with it on. So if you are out in Birmingham and notice a small, dark haired girl with shiny lips acting flirty, it's probably me!

The gloss feels quite nice on my lips and does not need to be constantly reapplied like some other glosses. The consistency is medium thick so it stays on your lips rather than dripping off. I once bought a cheap lip gloss from the market and regre
tted it as my hair kept sticking to my lips. I am glad to say this does not happen with 17 lip gloss as it's not a good look when you are trying to impress!

The clear colour is nice on its own, in the daytime for a natural look, or at night with smoky eyes for a saucy, sultry look. You can also wear the gloss on top of lipstick, although I recommend that you dab it on with your finger rather than stain the wand red/brown.

I can't guarantee that by wearing this lip gloss you wil get lots of snogs this Christmas- but it certainly won't harm you in your quest. But guys, if you kiss a girl wearing any kind or lipstick of lip gloss, remember to wipe your mouth (and cheeks, neck or wherever else she has been!) so you look respectable and so you have a chance with other girls later in the evening.

Have a lovely, snoggable Christmas from me!

P.S. If you would like a snog, email me and I'm sure we can arrange something ;-)Guys only I'm afraid. Although my fella doesn't mind women!
