Advantages: Cheap to use unless you get a mouth ulcer

Disadvantages: Too harsh if you have sore bits in your mouth at all.

I stopped smoking a few months ago and find that using a mouthwash after a meal helps stop the craving for a smoke. I have been paying £3.20 a time for a bottle of well-known stuff from Boots. It was fine, no problems.

I was looking round Wilkinsons when I found a bottle of green mouthwash, made by Sejam (59p). I couldn't justify spending my usual £3.20 after that, so I bought a bottle.

It was okay to use but left a sticky, 'spearminty' type taste in my mouth, (just like sucking mints with a sweet spearmint flavour.)It was rather like having dragon's breath, as the taste was quite hot. At 59p I couldn't complain, though.
A couple of days later I had a couple of small mouth ulcers, probably caused by eating too many sweets. I used the Sejam mouthwash after cleaning my teeth in the morning, and the pain from stinging mouth ulcers was indescribable. It really did burn them.

That certainly was a case where its better to buy a well-known, tried and tested brand. I don't care about the price difference anymore.
