Advantages: Smells gorgeous, Great shiny, soft results, Great smell!

Disadvantages: Expensive, Effects don't last long, Very man-made

Mmm, they say that the smell and taste of chocolate produces the same chemical (serotonin) in the brain as when you have sex - no wonder I like the smell of chocolate!

I'm talking about the Nicky Clarke Colour Therapy shampoos and conditioners, specifically in 'Sweet Like Chocolate'. The chocolate-smelling products are designed for brown/black hair, and, despite being a strange haystack-blonde, I just had to have these, being a great lover of all things chocolatey.

The smell is so similar to chocolate. There's not a hint of that soapy 'shampoo-ness' that you often get. Instead, think Terry's Chocolate Orange, but more yummy, and more "wow"!

It is rather expensive, £4.45 per bottle last time I saw it in Boots, but I found it in a gift pack (shampoo, conditioner, funky bag, orange candle - yum, and eye mask) reduced to £5 after Christmas, which initially inspired me to purchase the product, and at such great value, I bought 2!

Anyway, back to the product. On the back of the bottle it's described as "A gourmande aroma blend of chocolate, with madarin and bitter orange, topped with geranium and rose, with extracts of horsechestnut and rosemary to add depth and shine to enhance colour" Now maybe you can understand why there's that very strange and worrying temptation to squeeze a little onto your finger and well... taste it!

I brought the bottle in here with me to quote from the back and now I can't stop smelling it. I wonder if I could be the first person to get addicted to a shampoo?

Anyway...! This colour enhancing shampoo for brown/black hair didn't, thankfully, turn my hair into a weird colour. It probably turned very slightly different, but nothing drastic. My scalp, on the other hand, does have a faint pink/red twinge from the colour! The overall results from the shampoo and conditioner combined are great. After blow-drying, my hair comes out shi
ny, smooth, and very soft. The conditioner resembles actual hair-dye, being thick and gloopy, and actually coloured, so if splashed onto the tiles/bath/towels/mirror/etc is a pain to get off.

Despite the initial results being very pleasing, I generally expect a shampoo and conditioner combination to stay that way for at least two days. These products will last that long only if you touch your hair very little, and avoid flicking it around too much. Obviously this is a disadvantage because of the high cost of the products. Admitedly it is a very good set of products in many senses, and made by a very famous and well known hair stylist Nicky Clarke(www.nickyclarke.co.uk) and so bound to be popular. Maybe this is more of a marketing ploy than a truely great shampoo?

The products are not tested on animals, are made in the UK, and unfortunately aren't the most natural of products available.

That said, for a tasty smelling treat for my hair to add that sexy little shimmer as you walk, and a sweet smell that to be fair lasts a reasonable time, I think it's worth it. I wouldn't be tempted to use it as a regular shampoo, because of the price and the processed products being bad for my hair.

I did enjoy reading that. :-) A little expensive for me though.

I enjoyed your op, but think I will give the shampoo a miss.
