Advantages: Good value for money, nice design packaging, Nice colour, not orange
Disadvantages: Packaging could break easily
At this time of year (well any time of year) I love to have a tan. Somehow, a tan can make a person look loads healthier, sometimes a bit better looking and just have a glow that looks nice. Of course, there's nothing healthy about burning yourself in the sun, my Nan had skin cancer that was really awful, and we all should learn from it. Ok, so I occasionally go on the sunbeds and sunbathe, but it should be done as safely as possible. Well, I was really naughty last week and had a session on the sunbeds, but I have to admit, it looks really good. In between the sunbed or fake tan sessions (I love clarins fake tan as it looks really natural and is the safest way to bronze - see my ops on them) and as a general face powder, I use Rimmel Sun Shimmer Natural Bronzer. PRODUCT Rimmel Bronzer is basically a brown coloured pressed powder that you put on your face to give you a bronzed glow. I also use it on my chest as well if I'm wearing a low cut top, which is basically all the time! It has a SPF 8, which is good, as I know I have some sort of protection from the sun on my face in the day as well. PACKAGING The bronzing powder is on a black base with a clear lid. An image of the sun is embossed out of the powder, which is pretty. The lid is clearly labelled with Rimmel Sun Shimmer Natural Bronzer SPF 8 on the front in white writing, so it is easily located on the shelves. PRICE This set me back about £4. It does last ages and the Avon version costs loads more. WHERE FROM I bought mine from Boots, but it is available just about anywhere with a Rimmel make-up shelf, such as Superdrug, Tesco, Debenhams, local chemists, etc. Prices don't vary too much from each shop, so it's not worth traipsing round town to find it more cheaply elsewhere. Rimmel shelves are usually brightly lit with mirrors on them so its quite easy to locate it in the make up areas of these shops. HOW TO USE Basical
ly, you get a medium/large powder brush, sweep it over the powder then sweep over your face. When you have finished applying, tap any powder off your brush, and then sweep over your face to get rid of any excess. You should have a nice bronze glow. TIP: Don't use a pressed powder pad like I did as it makes you look like you've been rolling in dirt! I learned the hard way and I suppose that's why they don't include one in the compact! ADVANTAGES Small and compact, it's easy to carry around in your make-up bag. The SPF of 8 makes it a good choice because you are getting some protection from UV rays. Packaging although basic, is quite nice, especially with the sun printed on the actual powder itself. The price is reasonable for the product concerned and I had no problems getting hold of it. DISADVANTAGS The main disadvantages are that there is no mirror on the packaging like a lot of other powders, so you have to carry a separate mirror or go to the toilets or something as its not a good idea to apply without. The packaging, although quite nice and portable, is likely to break if you sling your bag about or have a history of breaking your compacts and the thin plastic wouldn't hold up much. You probably would get a load of brown crumbs in the bottom of your bag, that go absolutely anywhere and everywhere, nice - not! OVERALL I definitely would recommend this product overall. It leaves a nice shade of bronze, not too orange unlike some bronzers and goes on evenly. Go buy!

- 25/04/03 I'm scared of powdered bronzers as I would end up looking like I'd smothered myself in gravy no doubt! ;o)
Also intrigued as to a powder with an SPF factor - great stuff! :oD |
