Advantages: Makes skin soft, smooth, supple. Smells nice.
Disadvantages: One of the more expensive creams. Possibly too much packaging.
Roc Retin-Ox Intensive Anti-Wrinkle Moisturiser!
As a 27 year old heading ever quicker to that next birthday (seriously, is time ACTUALLY going faster and faster?), I am ever more conscious of the effect time is going to have on my skin. I don't want to get old, I don't want to get wrinkles and saggy skin so I am going to try everything in my power to try and prevent/delay this as much as possible so that I don't have to resort to going under the knife (or botox injections.. which is more likely as I am a big wuss but can handle needles/injections).
This is where this cream comes in. I got this on offer at an amazing £3.99, yes that is THREE pounds and NINETY NINE Pence, which is a massive saving of over £20 from its price in the likes of Boots etc. I thought it would be worth a try at this price and bought a few different Roc products at the same time (which I am sure I will review on at some point in the not to distant future) and boy am I glad I did. I have been using this product for a week now and have been really impressed with the results so far. Although I haven't noticed anything different with regard to wrinkling as I only have a few fine lines and it has been such a short period of time, I have noticed that my skin is smoother and a million times softer than it was whilst I was just using normal day cream (another big brand but I don't want to talk too much about that as I want to focus on this cream). I suffer with combination skin to the extreme as I have extremely dry skin in places; I put this partly down to the fact that I do also suffer with psoriasis which can't help matters!
This cream is actually part of the Roc range that is aimed at older skin, however I'd heard that retinol is one of the only products that is scientifically proven to make any kind of difference to your skin with regards to aging and I didn't see the harm in starting using this a bit earlier as I'd prefer to prevent rather than try to cure my wrinkles once it was too late. This cream also has a sun protection factor of 15, which means you don't need to apply separate sun cream in the morning (and for those like me who hadn't really been doing this anyway in the UK weather, it means it's done for you and you don't need to worry about it), although I would still advise that you are careful when out and about in the summer as you may need a bit more protection when the sun is brighter and hotter.
The cream comes in a tube that is white and gold with blue on, mine contains 30mls of product which doesn't seem a lot but a little seems to go a long way. It's not a big tube when you consider the size of the box that it comes in so maybe it's a bit over packaged as it also has a plastic mould inside to keep it still in the box, which begs the question why they don't just use a smaller box that holds the tube itself; especially when you consider that there's a lot of awareness over the amount of rubbish we dump on landfills these days. Maybe they do this as it's one of the more premium beauty brands (without going over to the designer selection) but I still think some of the packaging could be cut down and it would still look as good on the shelf/on your dressing table. The tube has a screw top that is easy to handle, even when you have the cream on your fingers ready to apply.
The texture of the cream is smooth and creamy, it's quite thick too but actually doesn't feel as heavy as I thought it would do once applied to the face, and neck. As soon as I have applied it to my skin, it instantly feels softer and more hydrated, which I've never had to this extent when trying other moisturisers, although that's not to say the others were bad as such.
It has a very subtle smell, which at first I wasn't keen on, however after applying it the smell grew on me and I have to say I quite like it now.
I know some people are allergic to parabens, so I will advise that this product is not suitable to be used by these people as it does contain various types of paraben. This is stated on the box in the ingredients list for a more comprehensive list!
Thanks for reading, this will also be posted on my Ciao account.
Summary: Lovely creamy moisturiser that you can feel moisturising.
