Newest Review: ... serum, whatever brand it is! I don't think the split ends claim is true though - if you want to prevent hair damage, ... more

... you're better off using a good conditioner, not a hair serum! The thick clear liquid feels very greasy and you don't particularly want to put it on your nice clean hair, but you get used to it, and should only need a very tiny amount as hair serum is very concentrated. I normally squirt a tiny, pea-sized amount into your palm, rub my hands together and smooth it over the length of my hair after straightening, avoiding the roots. I wa surprised to see that the product actually worked! My ...more

The one hair product (for this week anyway!) I swear by is hair serum. Normally I use John Frieda Ready To Wear Shimmer Serum, which keeps my hair sleek and shiny (my hair is my pride and joy!) but having a mooch around Bodycare, I came across Schwarzkopf Frizz Control Serum, part of their Supersoft range. I've never tried any of the range and was very wary, because it cost just £1.99 and was loose (as opposed to being boxed), but I decided to give it a go anyway - but I bought my usual John Frieda just in case! I think Schwarzkopf products look really cheap ...  Read the complete review

Oh boy, I should have known better! I've had bad experiences with Gliss products before once resulting in snapping hair, a drastic haircut and some compensation! So why did I even bother buying this? Basically, as many of you who know me or have seen me will be aware, my hair has been "treated" to within an inch of its life for the last 20 years or so. Bleaching, dying, straightening, back-combing etc all mean I need a good, heavy-duty conditioner on it but sometimes that alone is not enough. In the past I've also used leave-in conditioning products to give it some help and protection but shopping around recently my favourite of these ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Other Schwarzkopf: Ain't Got No Body (1244 words)

Coarse, dry, thick, dull and not very funny - no I'm not referring to Bernard Manning he has more body. Some people have lovely hair, some have horrible hair, mine is mousy and indifferent. When it's long it grows wavy and like a bush, short as it is now it either sticks up all over or just hangs there sadly and limply. True, I have neglected it for a while but my hairdresser gave me an excuse when she said that as you grow older and grey appears your hair gets coarser. I felt nearly as bad as I did when the young dentist praised my gnashers and said that I was doing well to have all my own teeth at my age. That was before I had one pulled ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Dry shampoo (155 words)

This, apparently, is well known of, but the first I heard of it was when a friend showed it to me. It is a dry shampoo that you can use in between washes when your hair is looking greasy, dull or lifeless but you don't have enough time to wash it. It is quick and convenient to use wherever you are. You simply spray it in your hair, like hairspray, massage it and leave it for a few moments then brush it out. Very handy if you're in a rush for work. I used it a lot when I was on honeymoon in the lakes and I couldn't be bothered to wash it, though you can only go a few days before it will need a proper wash!!!! It costs about ...  Read the complete review
