Advantages: Every and all
Disadvantages: None
To be honest, the only 'facial' treatment I usually use is a hot flannel in the morning and evening! When I have tried moisturisers in the past, they do seem to be too greasy (despite the label saying non-greasy). So, when I was in Superdrugs just over a month ago, Simple (Everyday) Rich Moisturiser was on special offer. I read the label and saw that it was 'dermatologically approved, not perfumed and not coloured'. I took this as meaning it wouldnt irritate my skin!. On the back of the bottle it said: * Enriched but non-greasy with UV protection for drier skin * Moisturises, protects and nourishes throughout the day * Keeps your skin soft and smooth * pH balanced The 'non-greasy' and 'pH balanced' sold me. I bought it and used it after every 'hot flannel' wash, ie, morning and evening. I did notice a difference. Quite a nice difference. My skin was noticeably softer and smoother. The next time I visited Superdrugs I took a closer look at the 'Simple' range. I noticed various different face masks and toners. I believe in face masks but I do not believe in toners. A cold splash of water has the exact same effect as any toner. (So save your money). I noticed a facial mask that had natural clay and seaweed extract. It was for 'all skin types'. On the back of the bottle it said: * Natural clay and seaweed extract deep cleanse and condition your skin * Draws out and absorbs deep down dirt, grease and make-up * Does not dry out your skin - leaves it softer and smoother * pH balanced Fine, I was happy with all of that. The directions are quick and easy. Thoroughly cleanse your face and apply the mask avoiding the eye area. Leave for 3 minutes and remove with damp cotton wool and rinse clean. Use once a week on dry skin and twice a week on normal/oily skin.
>I bought it. After the first time I used it I was *extremely impressed*. What a difference! They say you should follow a routine: cleanse, tone then moisturise. Sounds pretty obvious. However, as I previously said, dont bother buying a toner. Cold water does the same job. So, I was armed with all that I needed. A facial mask, toner (tap) and the moisturiser. I use the mask once a week, and the moisturiser everyday. With my hand on my heart I can assure you that my complexion has NEVER been as good. It is so darn soft, clear and smooth I can hardly believe it. I have been using 'them' for a month now. (Dont forget, I saw and felt the difference after the first time!). It is a quick and easy weekly routine: Wash your face with a hot flannel. Pat dry. Apply the mask (a level teaspoon amount). Leave for 3 minutes. Wipe off. Thoroughly rinse your face. Pat dry. Apply the moisturiser (again, a level teaspoon amount). Moisturise your face everyday after you have cleansed it. The price for the Facial Mask is about 3.99. The price for the moisturiser is about 2.00. These will last you AGES!! So girls (and boys!), go and treat yourself. I promise you will not be sorry. I have tried various different masks, toners and moisturisers and Simple come up trumps. Always check out Superdrugs and Boots prices for special offers on the 'Simple' range. Try it and let me know how you get on with it in comments. Incidentally, the thing I really love about it, is the fact it is so quick and easy. It is not mucky. I 'doo it' in the kitchen!. I always have piles of face flannels downstairs (easily available for the kids), so, before I wash up the dishes, I wash my face, slap it on, then rinse it off when I have finished the dishes! (I do not muck around with cotton wool balls!...I use the same flannel and rinse it after each wipe..I use kitchen tow
el to 'pat dry'...JOB DONE!) Try it. You deserve it.

- 20/07/01 I tired a facial mask the other day. Looks quite comical with my goatee beard. Not all tribally cool like Richard looks on Survivor. He's going to come back with perfect skin. :) |

Seriously, Heather is also a hands-washing fanatic, like deanne, and during the winter especially, the blood flows from little cuts .. nasty and sore ..
And Andy is right ... c'mon deanne more wisdom needed ... put the barbie and the voddy away for an evening ... |
